Actually...what exactly did you think?!? All I see above is a score... http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif
What did you like about it? Was the acting solid? The story interesting? The action good? The chemistry, the score, the ending, the beginning...what kind of movie-goer would enjoy it?

Sorry, i should have been more specific. Robert redford gave a great performance as always, however throughout the movie i kept saying to myself, man brad pitt could have been played by anyone, sure he is a huge name and that will probably drag more people to see it, but he was nothing special. the overall way the movie played out was very interesting, having robert redford basically tell the story of this guy tom bishop to people in a conference room while flashback scenes basically dominated the movie. this has to be one of the better movies of the year, yet i am not sure what category to put it in, drama, action, or thriller.
the clever things that the cia agents did to fool other people was realy cool
this movie basically used the story of robert redford's character and pitt's character to give somewhat of an idea of how the cia works
if you like redford, or pitt, or if you like spy/action movies than definately go see this movie...
however i can't guarentee everyone will like it

I Saw This Movie Again, Thought About It More. I Have Changed My Mind. My Rating Is Now A Whopping 10/10! Making It One Of My Favorite Movies. Seeing It The First Time There Was Something About It, And I Couldn't Place It. Brad Pitt Seemed To Be Much Better The Second Time Also.

"Spy Game"-B+
Of all of the students of the Jerry Bruckheimer School of Movie Aesthetics (including Michael "Pearl Harbor" Bay, Dominic "Swordfish" Sena, and Simon "Tomb Raider" West"), Tony "Top Gun" Scott is easily the finest storyteller. It also helps that many times, the scripts he gets are strong (see "Crimson Tide," "Enemy of the State," and the Tarantino-scripted "True Romance"). "Spy Game" is no exception. Told mostly in flashback, "Spy Game" is about
the "relationship" between a CIA operative(Robert Redford) who's set to retire and the agent he trained (Brad Pitt), who's stuck in a Chinese prison while performing an unauthorized operation. The flashbacks constitute Redford's recruitment and the mission that left their fledging bond sour. Redford and Pitt aren't asked to do much, but they do well in fleshing out the characters, while Scott is up to the task of keeping the audience on their toes, guessing the next move. The movie feels a bit longish at times, and in light of recent events, some situations- and ideas about our government- may be tough to endure, but overall, it gets the job done for smart entertainment.

At least an 8.5/10. Thought it was great the way the story was told, and how it showed Brad Pitt's character's training as a spy through a sixteen year time period. Had a pretty cool ending too.

I saw SPY GAME over the holiday weekend. Let me say first of all, I am a true Redford fan…think he is a subtle, lovely actor, one who understands acting as a craft and himself as a craftsman. I respect him and was quite hot for him as a youngster. Brad Pitt, I have had to admit, is a damn fine actor himself. Also, I love the whole genre of political thriller/action type movies (I too am at a loss as to how to categorize SPY GAME---thriller? Drama? Action? Whatever…). So it was with great anticipation that I went to see SPY GAME.
I will not let the fact that the movie stayed UNFOCUSED throughout interfere with my ability to give you the goods on it…but doesn’t that just SUCK??
On the whole, I liked it. I liked the way the story was told in flashbacks. I liked the anticipation I felt when it is revealed that it is Robert Redford’s last day at the CIA…isn’t that a set up for high drama? I liked Brad Pitt as “The Boyscout”--- he has a perfect look for the part. I liked the camera techniques---slow mo, fast mo, zoom in , out. It was almost too much, but not.
It had all the elements necessary to please moviegoers who also enjoyed “Hunt for Red October”, or “Mission:Impossible” or the like. Yet, for me, somehow it missed. I don’t want to go into a spoiler section here, but suffice it to say that the major things that missed were 1) R. Redford’s philosophy we see in his training interactions w/ Pitt somehow seems counter to the actions he takes on his last day of work. Maybe it’s just me. 2) The agents around the conference table were shallow, one dimensional and I needed more here to convince me that Redford’s character’s leaving was a good thing for them. I dunno…it was a little too pat for me.
I’ve gone on and on when all I started to say was SPY GAME is fun, well-acted, good to see on the big screen, but ultimately left me a little empty.

Amelie 9/10...
Amelie is a wonderful, quirky funny and original French film that was a pure delight for me. I loved the daringness and the joyness of this film. Audrey Tautou is amazing in the title role as a shy girl, set out on changing a few people's lives while finding a life of her own. The movie was fun, fast-paced surprising at times and just a joy to watch...the pictures of the garden Gnome and his world travels made me crack up every time. I just loved all the little things and small details in this film. Truly original and amazing and one of my favorites of the year so far.
It's Robert Redford who makes this overlong movie consistently watchable. Pitt, on the other hand, is underused yet abused. Does he have a clause in his contract that requires a physical beating in every role? Tony Scott's direction is typically in-your-face: lots of razzle-dazzle signifying nothing.

I thought Spy Game was really good.
Now that I saw that, Which should I see now:
Out Cold
Novocaine
Domestic Disturbance
The Wash
I have seen every other movie besides those.

It definately wasn't what I expected. It looked like an action movie from the commercial I saw so that's what I expected (especially after the opening sequence). I loved the music and I think it was OK, but it got boring in some parts. Maybe if I went in expecting something else I would have liked it more. I also wish it focused more on Brad Pitt in his current situation than Robert Redford. He seemed to me like a supporting actor rather than a star.

I don't know whether or not I really liked this movie or really hated it. It was all right, wasn't anything really special about it. I know I didn't hate it, there just wasn't really much keeping me into the flick. The direction after the first hour just started to annoy the hell out of me. No need to repeat the same camera movements and directions THAT much.
