I saw the movie recently and i really enjoyed it. I'm wondering what something meant..at the end of the movie, all the village ppl are walking down the road. it seems as if they're going somewhere.does anyone know what this symbolizes??

I might be able to answer that, i'm not sure though, well here goes, IMO the end means there walking to a new life, remember near the end there is an earthquake that destroyd the whole town, and now they have nothin, so what they do is walk to a different part of the country to try and find new life and leave the old one behind......... Make Sence?

that does sound right but i was expecting the conclusion of the movie to end with penelope and nicholas getting married. what made me wonder is the fact that it shows penelope's father walking down the road but it does not show penelope or nicholas. im wondering what that is supposed to mean

I saw the movie (and thought it is disappointing and has very awful performances with annoying accents), and I didn't care much about the meaning of the ending... If you really want to know the answer, i guess maybe you should wait for the DVD to come out and listen to the director's commentary.
