American Beauty by far. It's just an incredible film with a great cast (you know them), both funny and dramatic, great direction by Sam Mendes, great cinematography by Conrad Hall, great script/screenplay from Alan Ball, and a great and catchy score by Thomas Newman.

THE GOLD RUSH (1925). The ultimate film comedy to me. Not only is it original, but I love how it explores true love and human nature. Truly a beautiful movie experience.

The Quiet Man
I belong to a group that does surveys once a month by email... they are actually addictive and a lot of fun if you know the people participating.
Anyway, this is often one of the questions and it tells a lot about the person. I've never known anyone else to list the same favorite as me.
Close ties for second:
Much Ado About Nothing
Sense and Sensibility
Blazing Saddles
The Natural
Sandlot
Strangely, the movies I consider personal favorites are not movies I would say are "the best." My favorites are films I watch again and again on quiet nights when I need to feel good.

Mine is though, I love everything about it. Pretty flawless, IMO, and I've seen it many times.

Anyway, i'm not pissed off. Keep it going...

oooops. i forgot about that ;) to be honest, that is accurate in a way, as i have a lot of favourite movies. to actually pick just one to put in this thread...that hurt. a lot. plus my fave tends to change on a weekly basis depending on mood etc ;) and i am much to lazy to update my profile all the time :D
