Having read a review of their album in this weeks NME that made some claims with regards to the oddness of this band that I felt surely had to be exagerated I was intrigued enough to keep my eyes open and my good ear cocked in case they turned up on MTV2. Sure enough, tonight i'm reading a book with MTV2 providing background noise when suddenly I hear some pretty strange sounds emanating from the TV. I put the book down and watch the video for the song "Mountain Trip To Japan, 1959" ...and y'know...it's weirder than NME lead me to believe. This is seriously odd stuff. By way of explanation i'll cut and paste the bands manifesto from the official website.

The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players are an indie-vaudeville conceptual art-rock pop band. We take vintage slide collections that have been found at estate sales, garage sales, thrift stores, etc., and turn the lives of annonymous strangers into pop-rock musical exposes based on the contents of these slide collections.

I'd hesitate to say this is good music having only heard one song (and even that only once). What it absolutely is though is highly unusual and quite original.
