Two years on from the phenomenal "Deadringer" RJD2 returns with another slice of offbeat Hip Hop beats.

I'm loving this album, not as much as "Deadringer" but the range of musical influences is even more than we've come to expect. DJ Shadow would be proud. Having said that I'm getting pissed off with people comparing the two in my eyes there is no contest.

Standouts include "1976", "Ring Finger", "Someone's Second Kiss" and "One Day".

A good release. Anyone have this? If not go and give it a try.

Well, it's had about 0 publicity in the USA, save for an ad I saw on MTV2.

It piqued my interest, but I still know nothing of the CD.

They're not the best tracks. If you like DJ Shadow, Moby or something a little different you'd enjoy it. Its a shame nobody's interested in this album its cool.

Ah well I tried

Good stuff, I'd never seen them publicized though. I wasn't aware of the new album. It is very similar to DJ Spooky, which is a good thing for this guy.

I'll keep an eye out for some of the new tracks.

Thanks BTT!

Amen. I planned on picking the Blockhead album up. My friend is a fan. The one tune I liked that he produced was "Daylight" by Aesop.

This thread cannot die until more people are aware of this mans greatness. When and if he reaches greatness you can think. That limey git BTT was right. :)

Yeah its a shame he hasn't promoted it well. Mind you the record label (Def Jux) maybe a giant in the hip hop world but up against other labels their budget is miniscule. They rely on word-of-mouth which trying to do.

My favorite track off the album so far is "Exotic Talk" --

Overall, this labum seems much less dark than Dead Ringer. For some reason it keeps reminding me of Jon Spensers Blue Explosion.

I really like "1976" so short but oh so sweet.

I like how he changes styles a lot in this LP. You're right its not as dark as "Deadringer" its cool to see him move on. Some artists keep playing it safe.
