i agree i liked the re-make also. the only thing i would change is the humor. little to much of it. zombie movies shouldn't be funny. and i laughed alot when i viewed this film. save the humor for the action comedy's

I'll be picking up both versions (Remake in August, and Original in Sept.). Def. picking up the original because it was better, and an awesome movie!
Dawn Of The Dead (79 I think?) - 9/10
Dawn Of The Dead (04) - 6/10

One of my favorites of all time. I can't wait for this. By the way, which company is putting this out? It can't be Anchor Bay. So who is it?

AWESOME! I'll be picking up the three disc version! I picked up the single disk that came out not too long ago and plan on getting the three disk as well. What can I say I have no patience.
Now as for the remake, I'll give it a rental jes' to see if I still think it's a steaming pile of shit. :)

I agree with your stance on horror, but Dawn of the Dead wouldn't be Dawn of the Dead if it didn't involve people enjoying themselves in a well-protected mall, for a little bit at least.
I would have been more dissapointed if they would have been in the mall and not showed off any of its assets, they'd be better off just holing up in a dark castle with nothing to play with.
Plus it helps you flesh out the characters more, by seeing sorta what they were like before terror struck or what their actually like given a shitload of goodies.

Now i'd hate to admiti this but i've never seen the original. HOWEVER, i've always planned on buying it since i loved day of the dead. I have a few questions though, is it in color or is it like night of the living dead??? if it's in color and it's similar to day of the dead i'll be there in line on sep. 7th

I really want to see the Director's cut (i've only scene the theatrical) and Argento's cut of the film so i will probably be picking this one up. I bought the one disk DVD awhile back but i'll probably sell it or just give it away to a friend if i get this one.

No, he's talking about two different versions. There is The Director's cut (George Romero's), and then the same film can be seen in what I believe is an extra extended version called Argento's cut.

Argento's cut is shorter , but it contains some scenes that Romero's director's cut didn't . Nothing that actually would add to the story or make it any more enjoyable , although i think there are a couple of more zombie headshots , if that is your thing . And , the film is dominated by the Goblin score , in fact i think all the music is from Goblin , something that turned me off to this version , some of it feels so out of place , it changes the whole feel and vision of Romero's creation .
But , hey , it's Dawn , so the Argento cut is still a must see , although not as effective as either the theatrical or director's cut .
The one i'm really curious about is the 156 minute version from Germany , even though iv'e read that it's merely a combo of the theatrical , director's , and Argento's cut , still like to check out a remastred version of that , because that's the one i have never seen .

Didn't the Argento cut take out alot of the humor that was in the original?

Yeah, it did. Argento's cut runs somewhere around the 95 minute mark if I remember rightly (I'm not at home right now so can't check my copy), and is a tighter, faster paced cut of the movie with more gore than the Theatrical or Directors cuts, but ultimately less substance.
It's essentially the spaghetti-horror version of DOTD - still a good movie (and very interesting for comparison to the original for die hard fans like us), but ultimately not as satisfying as the 141 minute cut.

I was about to buy the one disc when a shining ray of light came down and told me to wait. Then the store clerk climbed down the ladder from the light fixture and explained to me the three discer.

Damn double dippers. I have to admit, they got me on this one. When the barebones came out I rushed and got it because of how much I love this film....alas, I will still get the 3 discer. To me, it's a must have.

excellent. I may just have to refresh my current copy of Dawn of the Dead. By the way, the remake sucked ass.
I might get it...especially if it's got neat packaging and a collectible booklet and lobby cards.
God, I'm a sucker.

Yes, i know George Romero directed all of it but Argento made his own cut of the film for Italy and most of Europe.
