May 25th, 6 days, anyone picking up?
I'd have to give the trilogy as a hole a 8 or 9/10.

Nope.
I told myself to stay strong until the EE comes out. I did it woth The Two Towers and the payoff was way worth it.

I too told myself to wait for the EE in November. Alas, I cannot. I'll get this.

I'll be picking it up. Pre-ordered it! Hehe. I've got the theatrical versions of the FOTR & TTT so of course I have to get the theatrical of ROTK. I'll be picking up the EE as well as I have the first two EE's too! :)

The trilogy as a whole: 10/10

I'm waiting, but I am going take advantage of the DVD being out. I'll watch the movie plenty of times before the EE comes out.

Sure. The EE editions just seem to detract from the movies in my eyes. I find the theatrical editions much stronger in quality. I guess there's a reason besides running time why they decided to cut the stuff out.

Ah, I see. For me I love the EE editions, I like learning more about the back story I quess, for a guy who has never read the books. It is more Interesting to me.

I read the books years, and years ago. I don't remember them, so the EEs told me the whole story. Aragorn is 87?!

I have The regular and the EE of both, and if your a serious fan i suggest getting both. The Special features are good on the Theatrical version as well.

I must say I'm a little disappointed with this DVD. The theatrical FOTR DVD had much more content then this one does: the first two docs are practically the same (though I guess this is a valid complaint for DVD docs in general); there's no special preview of the EE; there's no music video; there are only six featurettes (FOTR had fifteen!)...
But, no matter. At least the EE is still coming, anyway. God, I can't wait for it.

You all forgot to mention the kick butt LOTR supertrailer on ROTK DVD! That was awesome. If you're curious about the first release, check out my review ROTK DVD (http://www.apollolounge.com/multimedia/video/rotkdvd/rotkdvd.htm)

Very good review, Cipher Jo !!!
ROTK DVD doesn't come in Portugal until the beginning of June, so I'm stuck here, watching it on divx...
I'll be buying both the theatrical and the EE.

I'm skipping the theatrical version because of the exclusion of Saruman.

Finally, someone other than me who thinks this. I agree.
I haven't seen ROTK in theatres, but I might blind-buy it.
Actually, I've heard a rumour (albeit from an unreliable source) that they might be releasing the trilogy in a box set; can anyone tell me if this is true or not?

Theatrical Editions, it's listed on Amazon and what not.
I am going to wait for the EE, although it is my 2nd favorite movie(with the other two), so it will be a hell of a time to wait.

Yeah, I heard from a source that they'll release two boxed sets, the one above and an Extended Edition boxed set.

I actually read somewhere, (yahoo movies maybe?) that the extended box set will not be out until some time in 2005, or 2006 as Jackson doesn't want to release it until they can have a "hi-defenition DVD" release of the films. But whatever, I don't need a box set, just give me my LOTR extended movie fix!
