New thread, similar to the one a few weeks back but now you'll be working with the current roster. You'll choose your defensive pairings, forward pairings, starting goalie, backup goalie, and healthy scratches.
GOALTENDERS: Martin Brodeur, Roberto Luongo, Ed Belfour
DEFENCEMEN: Scott Niedermayer, Rob Blake, Adam Foote, Ed Jovanovski, Chris Pronger, Eric Brewer, Wade Redden, Robin Regehr
FORWARDS: Mario Lemieux, Joe Sakic, Joe Thornton, Steve Yzerman, Brad Richards, Patrick Marleau, Kris Draper, Jarome Iginla, Martin St. Louis, Dany Heatley, Shane Doan, Simon Gagne, Ryan Smyth, Brenden Morrow, Kirk Maltby.
Make sure to have one goalie scratched, two defensemen scratched, and three forwards scratched.

I wouldn't have even picked Gagne to make the team, but since he is on it, I'd stick him with Lemieux on the top line so that he can hopefully learn from his fellow French Canadian. I would have put St. Louis on the right side of that line, but I think a pure set up man like Lemiux needs a pure finisher like Heatley. Lemieux and St. Louis are both great with the puck, so having them on the same line would have been a waste, imo. I also put Gagne on the top line to spread the talent out, in particular amongst the top three lines. The fourth line is more of a grinding line, but Doan can still add some offence to that line as well.

Grind line would be very good because you can put them up against the other team's best line and Draper is an amazing defensive forward and can shut down the other team's best player. Morrow can score too, and we all know how good Doan is becoming. But an Iginla/Sakic/Marleau line would be unstoppable and definitely Canada's best line. There's no doubt they'll have Iginla and Sakic together again and I think Marleau would be the perfect fit to round out that line because of his speed, smarts, and skill.

I would keep the Gagne/Sakic/Iginla line together it worked well at the olympics and they have some chemistry and the other 2 lines can easily put the puck in the net then put the 4th line with Maltby and Draper who plat together regularly and Doan a very good winger I would feel confident aith all 4 of those lines althought it's going to be really hard to keep Yzerman out of the lineup.
