Kiss, arguably the best rock band the world has ever had, or atleast on of. What do you's think of them? Whats your fave song of theirs? Feel free to post soem fun info on their history etc too!
Also my cousin heard rumours that the drummer with the fox make up (cant remember name) was originally a chick!? Like that miriam thing but the other way round.

Although I'm not a HUGE fan, I do like some of their songs. Shout It Out Loud and I Was Made For Loving You instantly coming to mind

I think KISS are one of the worst bands of that era. I loathe them. Gene Simmons isn't a ladies man either, all those women are strippers and hookers. It isn't hard to lay the bone to them.

I like KISS. They have a few really great songs and a fun attitude. They also put on an incredible show. However, I will probably never see them live because of two things about the band that do piss me off. First, tickets to their shows cost more than tickets to the fucking Super Bowl, and second, they're becoming a cookie-cutter band by replacing the members who get pissed off enough at the two ego-maniacal twats that run the show to quit with look-alike posers who dress and play exactly as they do. When Ace quit and they replaced him with Tommy Thayer and dressed him up as the Spaceman, that was the final straw for me. I'll never go see them live unless Ace and Peter come back and they put on a tour that someone who isn't in the same tax bracket as they are can afford.

Unmitigated awfulness. That's what I think. One of those bands who operate so far below my radar that they may as well exist in another dimension (a hell dimension at that). Utterly repugnant.

That was Eric Carr. He came in after Peter Criss quit the band in 1980. He wore the fox makeup until they took it off in 1983 for Lick It Up.
This is my favorite band ever. Extremely innovative for their time, the critics never understood. As far as favorite songs, there are too many to mention here.
Shiny Demon, are tickets that much nowadays? I saw them back in 1992 and 1996 and they were fairly reasonable.
I guess you either love them or hate them though. "Unmitigated awfulness" yeah.:p

Yeah no doubt about it. The Rolling Stones couldn't even measure up live to KISS. That is how they gained such popularity is when they released the live album Alive back in 1975. The first three studio albums didn't sell for squat, but after that they became huge. NOBODY was doing the stuff they were live back in that time period.
Wish I could have been around back then to see them back in the early days.:(
Hey a quick question for any die hard KISS fans lurking about. This has been bothering me for a while.
OK Gene was the Demon, Paul was Starchild, Ace was SpaceAce, Peter was the Cat, later Eric Carr was the Fox. OK stay with me, the guy that followed Ace Frehley was Vinnie Vincent. He was in makeup for just a very short time while the Creatures of the Night tour wrapped up. What was his character supposed to be? I remember seeing him on stage in makeup in one of the KISS video tapes that I have, but for the life of me I cant figure out what he was supposed to be. A mime perhaps, I think I just remember white facepaint.:) It's been bugging the shit out of me.
I know it's a tough question but can anyone help me out?
Anyone remember the ill fated Vinnie Vincent Invasion?:)

BUMP
I Very rarely bump, but this band just desrves so much more attention than its getting!:(
I'm not their biggest fan, but they can be fun when you just don't give a shit. Too many people get wound up about what an asshole Gene Simmons is, but the band made mad cash for a reason.

Truth be told, I never really heard much of them. I was just turned off by their appearance and the parts I did manage to hear.

Fucking Love Kiss! There was no other show like theirs in Rock n' Roll history with all the pyro, explosions, and blood spitting. I just wish I was around to see them when they ruled the earth back in the mid 70's. Nowadays, I think they're getting a little too old to be running around in makeup and spandex, but that's just me. Can't disrespect them though, shit, they were the band that practically invented arena rock shows.
Oh yeah, best song.....Detroit Rock City!!! followed by a close Cold Gin (live).

They're definitely a fun good-times rock band. I give them a listen every once in awhile.

Hmmm....I've been seeing Kiss live since I was a teenager in the late 80's. Probably saw them around 15 times or so. Now I always thought their tickets have been reasonably priced, actually cheaper than many other big time bands. In fact I have tickets to their show at the Tweeter Center in Camden NJ on July 13th, and the price range for the show was between 13 and 75 dollars. Even during their first reunion tour back in '96, I recall I paid 100 bucks each for great seats at the LA Forum. So either you consider that Super Bowl money or my guess would be you were trying to buy tickets off a broker for a sold-out show.
Love 'em or hate 'em, Kiss is a great live act and always gives the concert-goer his or her money's worth. Hence why I've seen them so many times. As for songs.....with much difficulty I would have to narrow it down to Detroit Rock City and I Was Made For Lovin' You as my two favs. Great Expectations is another favorite....that is their most overlooked song (among many).

I hate KISS!!! They suck, they have maybee two good songs out of their mess of crap and they're looked apon as rock gods. Sure they have a cool stage show, but I wouldn't go to a concert for a few decent songs and a cool stage show (ecspecially with how much the tickets cost). Just pay $10 to buy Detroit Rock City and you get an even better deal.
