I know this really isn't considered horror, more just straight up sci-fi, but it does deal with killer robots.
For those unknown, Runaway is a film starring Tom Selleck and featuring Kirstie Alley and Gene Simmons (yes, the same one from KISS). It's the future where robots are used as commonplace appliances, babysitters, and helpers. Selleck is part of the runaway squad, a.k.a. when these machines screw up, they come in to clean them up.
It seems that Simmons character is making robots go beserk using certain chips, and now Selleck has to stop him.
This is a great flick by first time director Michael Chricton (not sure on spelling), the same guy who wrote books like Jurassic Park, etc. It's fun with Selleck doing some good acting work. The score is pretty good and Simmons does alright as the villain. Some great scenes that have been etched in my mind including:
(SPOILERS)
*Simmons' gun that shoots bullets which can turn corners (great camerawork)
*an intense sequence in which Selleck goes into a house to save a baby from a robot shooting a gun
*the ending (involving robots and an elevator)
I thoroughly enjoy this flick to this day. :D
