With the release of Velvet Revolver's debut, Contraband, coming closer (June 8th), and me hearing the new single (Slither) today for the first time, my anticipation for this release is hightening. The Stone Temple Pilots are my second favourite band of all time (tied with The Doors, right behind Nirvana) and the sadness of their breakup was lessened only by the knowledge that this would be forthcoming. The first single, Set Me Free, was good for the first few listens, but after that it ceased to impress me. If Slither is any indication of what the rest of it will sound like, then I'm sure I will be quite satisfied with my future purchase of this cd. Anyone else anticipating this?

Yep.
They're quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. I've dowloaded a few singles from their album, and it sounds pretty cool.
Might be picking it up, but maybe not, as I'm a hardcore downloader. They can't touch me in Canada.:D

I may pick it up. I'm pretty impressed by what I've heard so far. It's definitely cool to see a band of great rock veterans making noise out there, they're definitely still kicking us kids' asses.

Slither was boring and mediocre. I hope the rest of the album doesn't sound so lame.

I liked the track they did for The Hulk soundtrack, but Slither kind of, well, slithers. Plus Scott Weiland was obviously high for the video. No one in their right mind would wear silver pants like that without wearing a 'Zero' shirt. Plus, what the hell is he wearing them that low in the first place?!

You can listen to the album at vh1.com in case anyone cares.
I loved Weiland with STP and I liked GNR's sound before Axel fucked it up with his nasty voice and a gaggle of whiny songs. I think that this may be the perfect marriage of two acts. I like what I've heard so far. Kick ass band, one_crow.

I found it on MTV.com and I thought it was pretty boring and bland.

I picked up the album not bad but not what i really expected though, little to simple rock for being members of GnR but other then that Scott and the other members blended quite well.

At first I wasn't sure about Slither, but the more I hear it, the more I dig it. I did the same thing with that Incubus song Megalomaniac and a few Alice in Chains songs. I probanly won't buy the album, but I'll listen up for more songs.

Velevet Revolver has really come to impress me, in spite of some of their songs being overplayed. Ofcourse when you have the likes of Scott Weiland, Slash, and pretty much the rest of Guns and Roses, chances are youll have a good band.

I was disappointed that it sounded more like STP than like Gn'R. Slash's kickass solo's are there though...

Well ever since I saw their music video for the first time I have to admit that these guys totally rock.
I mean, honestly, at first I thought they were another old time band that I used to like so when I saw their name I had no idea who in the hell they were. But I must say that they are a very original band and that they totally are one of those bands that will rock on for a long while

I love Slither, and I have heard some songs off the Album, I will be picking this up as soon as I can, what I've heard sounds like it will be a kick ass CD.

So far, I am very underwhelmed by VR.
Almost every song on their debut album is just too much. Too much screaming from Scott Weiland, too much loud guitar riffs, and too much background noise as well. The only track on Contraband which I really enjoyed was "Loving The Alien", which sounded very Pink Floyd like.
