Hawkins tells fan f*** off
By ROBIN PERRIE
DARKNESS rocker Justin Hawkins left a fan in tears when he swore at her — mistakenly thinking she was a music critic.
Sarah Hartnett, 17, won a contest to fly to Los Angeles to watch her heroes at a small gig.
But after a few songs cursing Hawkins launched into a rant at the stunned teenager.
He stopped the gig and blasted: “Seriously, f*** off, I don’t want you in here.”
Hawkins kicked off when another fan pointed to Sarah and shouted: “She’s from the NME.”
The red-faced rock star realised his blunder after he was told she only won her tickets in the music magazine — which had slagged off his band two years ago.
He apologised and offered to sign her T-shirt after the gig — but she has not forgiven him.
Sarah, of Horsham, West Sussex, said: “I get really scared of people when they start shouting at me and started to cry.
“Then the woman said, ‘She’s not from the NME, she won it through the NME’.
“He said, ‘Oh crap, I’m sorry, I just didn’t know, we’ve had some trouble with the NME and stuff’.
“I’ve met them once before and they were really nice but I had never spoken to Justin. He seemed really arrogant but I liked the others.”
A Darkness spokesman said: “Justin was very sorry for his outburst.
“When he realised she was a fan he searched for her and apologised and offered her some free merchandise. It wasn’t as bad as first thought.”
