I just got into them, and bought Kill Em' All and Ride the Lightning. Both are great, but Ride the Lightning is such an improvement over the debut. Much more ambitious, harder riffs, more complex structures, better lyrics and just better songs. I haven't heard most of Master of Puppets or their latter stuff (excluding singles that I would have heard, but just not take notice of).

The best tracks from the two albums are:

WOOO, love love love LOVE metallica. By far my favorite band of all time, just something about those riffs and beats and songs that grab hold of me everytime I listen man, that is some good fucking music man.

I forgot to mention ReLoad. My sister had a copy of it, and I stole it and hated every second of it. Complete piece of trash and completely unlike the other albums I've heard.

And MOP is on my list of must-buys and I'll get it once I wear out this new Portishead album I'm stuck in right now...

Being a metalhead from the 80's, I used to LOVE Metallica. Their music was raw, fast and exciting. Now, well, not so much. I did pick up St. Anger though. I thought it was a good CD if you ignore the fact that it's Metallica. It just doesn't sound like them (especially the incredibly shitty recording method...what the hell were they thinking?). But, at least they're trying...lots of bands just stick with what sells instead of trying to expand their musical base, so I respect them for that.

P.S.: Lars Ulrich is still a prick. Sorry, had to be said...:D

i used to love their music, now its just ok, i dont really think they're that great, most of their music sounds the same and theres little development through the albums

Metallica is pretty good. My favorite album of theirs is ...And Justice for All though I know most would say Master of Puppets, which is also good. I think the song "Master of Puppets" (not the album) is their best song, but I enjoy ...AJFA overall as an album then MOP.
