Alastor Moody is the Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher in GoF. He's an ex-Auror, (the wizard equivalent of the SWAT team) who has gone to seed and often mistakes a handshake for an attempt on his life. He's quite cool all the same, with one real eye and one magical eye thaty can see through all sorts of shit, (Invisibility Cloaks, etc.) But at the end of the year, it turns out that "Moody" is one of Voldemort's supporters who's drank a Polyjuice Potion, and the real Moody has been locked in a trunk all year.

Brendan Gleeson (King Menelaus in Troy) is playing Moody.

So yeah, being a Kamikaze pilot has better long term career prospects than the position of Defence Against the Dark Arts professor.
