View Full Version : American Wedding WHAT THE FUCK!?

No, this is not a review . . . nessesarily.

Okay, I just lost about two hours watching this and I actually feel like ranting. I never rant!! Watching this was an odyssey. After the absolute teen comedy classics "American Pie" (8.5/10) and "American Pie 2" (9/10), they decide to throw another at us. Take the film to another route, write a different screenplay and bring all the characters we love back. So, when I noticed that half the cast was gone (that's right, no Oz, no Nadia, no Vic, no Jessica, no Heather) I knew that there was a reason for it.

The opening scene was okay although too derivative (remember the openings in both previous AP movies?) and didn't make me laugh much ("Haha . . . a boner!"). But . . . did you hear the bad news? Stifler, the best and coolest character in the American Pie movies died between Aperican Pie 2 and American Pie 3!! What? Well, the guy calling himself Stifler here is not the same as the Stifler in the previews movies. This guy is a fucking annoying half assed idiot. I actually (actually) said "I don't want this guy to appear again". What the fuck with that!? I love this guy? WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM!?!?

All the characters that did return don't grow for shit and Kevin talks I think . . . ten lines. Jim's dad [a riot in the other movies] still does his "father" talks but . . . they are so not funny anymore. Nothing else is! The movie is derivative as fuck and didn't bring anything else to this series . . . ZERO. Oh wait right, Stifler goes 'nice' for a moment because he screws up. This was so cheaply handled that I didn't buy it for a second. The gross out comes almost out of nowhere. Stifler eats shit (literally), Jim shaves his balls (I didn't get why, I thought he was doubious on the subject and Stifler said "No") and it all flows like crap. There is a point where Stifler calls Finch "a motherfucker" . . . cheaply written scene and you'll probably agree. And what's the thing with that gay bar scene?! There is actually A DANCE-OFF between Stifler (who dances) and a gay dude I didn't care about. Teens that felt like ACTING like teens and more poorly written side-characters.

Add some eye-candying new character by the name of Cadence, some delicious looking boobies to the mix to make it even slightly enjoyable but failing (sorry . . . boobs are boobs but I started loosing interest . . . that scene ran for too goddamn long!). I didn't laugh more than two smalls coughs of laughter in this horrible jamboree of stupid jokes with lots of foul mouthing so I ask the people. WHAT THE FUCK DID THEY DO TO THIS SERIES!?!?

Titties, some chuckling laughs ("To the next step"), final frames that finally became redundant (Uh-oh . . . "She" is here!) and that's about fucking it. Horrible horrible way to flatline an otherwise classic series. 2/10.

I actually really liked the unrated, uncut, longer version better. It was the weakest of the three. But I think it still hade heart and that classic Amerian Pie feeling.

American Pie 9.5
American Pie 2 9/10
American Wedding 7.5/ 10

I have to agree with poopshoes on this one. American Wedding isn't quite as good as the first two, but is still very very funny in it's own right. I didn't really miss any of the characters who were gone from this flick. They really didn't bring anything huge to the previous two films in my opinion. Will except Nadia's luscious melons in the first one.

At first I thought they were going a bit over the top with Stiffler, but it seemed like they dialed back some and this may have Stiffler at his best. I loved the dance off in the gay bar. I'm not sure you really had to care about Bear to get a kick out of that scene.

Most importantly Finch's role in the flick was extended somewhat. He's probably my favorite from the series so that raised my entertainment level some. The parts where he acts like Finch were great. Especially the hotel lobby scene thats in the unrated cut.

In a series like this you have to expect some running gags along the way. So to me some reoccuring jokes didn't hurt the movie at all.

I'd give it a good solid 7/10

American Pie 1: 9/10
American Pie 2: 8/10

I'm actually glad they got rid of Heather, Oz, Vicky, Nadia, etc. They were REALLY annoying to me in the 2nd movie, and slowed the movie down. Nadia provides good T&A, but adds very little to the series. I'm glad they jettisoned those characters

Gotta agree with you on what happened to Stifler, X. The character just wasn't funny at all. American Wedding really lacked where the other two succeeded, and that was the humour.

American Pie: 7/10
American Pie 2: 8/10
American Wedding: 6/10

It earnt a 6 through the showing of some nice titties and Jim's dad. But mainly the titties ;)

im also glad they didnt bring back Chris Klein or Tara Reid.... because that meant the actors that were in the movie were the ones who could actually fucking ACT!

Chris Klein is the worst fucking actor, ,just horrible. Tara Reid is quite sexy.. but an air head to boot. Shannon Elizabeth coulda been in it, but her character woulda added nothing to the mix... since the second movie was about finding the love, and realizing it wasnt nadia.. thats where her stroy line ended!

I enjoyed American Wedding.. of course least of the 3... i still feel it is a very welcome addition to the trilogy!

It's definitely the worst of the 3 films, but nevertheless I enjoyed as well. It still has plenty of gross jokes and scenes, and funny moments. I love all 3 movies.

I tend to agree... it was far and away the weakest of the three films, although I didn't think it was terrible.

Eh. It was an 'ok' 6/10. Definately a disapointment given the first 2, which I really like. (8/10 both). Screenplay really fell flat at times...much too long between laughs. And the directing and editing was downright BAD. Man, the second time I watched it I noticed what a hack job it was.

American Wedding was awright but lacked a few things what the original pie did. I definately laughed at the oh no they didnt parts. The humor like I reported in What Did You Watch Today seemed rushed.
OK Question WHY the others were not there?
I believe they wanted to MOOOOVE on... I was suprised that one of em was referenced in the film.
I would have given the movie a 5 but moved to a 6 instead. :D

This was my favorite of the three. I just found it funnier.

THe whole scene with Stiffler at the gay bar was maybe the funniest thing this series has ever created.

Completely agree with bowiee on the gay bar. I don't remember the first two enough to know if they were better, but American Pie 3 was great. I loved it.
It's was nice to see that they kept the heart of the first two.

I actually liked it more than the other 2 because of stifflers charactere he was much funnier than he was in the other films.

I thought that this one was definitely the weakest of the three...I mean there were some parts that were funny, but just didn't compare to the first two. Stifler's dancing scene was humorous, but I don't think it was the funniest thing this series has created. I think any scene with Jim's dad was classic.

It doesn't matter if his acting was bad or not...He was an important charcther that strangely disappeared from the face of the earth. I felt the filmmakers bitch slapping us by not even mentioning were he was at..BIG MISTAKE!!! He was an important memeber of the gang..and now he's gone and we don't even know were he is at??? Big mistake. But the movie is still an non-stop laugh riot. I still really dug it. 8/10

While I didn't feel that the filmmakers were bitch slapping for the exclusion of Oz, I do agree that he was an important character and he should've been there. As much as I liked Shannon Elizabeth, Mena Survari, Tara Reid and Natasha Lyonne their characters weren't really necessary. The movies have always been about the friendship of the guys and I missed Oz.

As for American Wedding, I loved it. It's not quite as good as the first one but about on par with the second one.
