This movie opens on Friday, does anyone actually plan on seeing it? I think I might check it out on video. And by the way, do they even advertise this movie on TV? I have never seen the previews for it. If anyone has seen them does the movie look good "at all"?

Anyway, I'm a little surprised that it's only opening on around 400 screens, I figured it would be on at least 700-800. I predict an opening weekend of 1 Million.

What do you guys think?

The only publicity I saw for this movie was on the E! show "Coming Attractions," where they show theatrical trailers.

I read on Upcomingmovies.com that they were only shoving it into 400 theatres, which suggests to me that the movie probably sucks harder than a two-headed mosquito on Tuesday.

Then again, it does look sorta fun and I may just catch it on video, with only 400 screens it likely won't get to my area.

From what I know it doesn't interest me. But, I'll just have to see from reviews and previews, but I haven't read or saw shit about it.

I have not seen or heard anything about this movie except that it is opening and has James Vanderwhoever from Dawson's Creek in it.

That in itself is enough reason for me to stay away.

Thanks

Jam Showbiz at www.canoe.ca (http://www.canoe.ca) reports that Texas Rangers won't be opning here in Canada until January or February due to the shortage of screens here in Canada, currnetly occupied by Harry Potter and Monsters Inc. It is also scheduled to debut on the U.S channel TNT in the spring................it should have just gone directly to video.

It's going to be on TV already this spring?
Wow, they should have just put it direct to video. Oh well. I think I might go see it if they get it at the dollar theater, but I'll still probably just rent it when it comes out.

At www.imdb.com (http://www.imdb.com) it says it's budget was 30 Million dollars but at www.canoe.ca (http://www.canoe.ca) it says 70 Million. Either way I'm sure it won't make it back. But I also don't feel that they are giving it a chance, they aren't even advertising it on TV at all and are only dumping it on 400 screens. I know westerns are a tough sell but it has a decent cast, James Van Der Beek was good in VARSITY BLUES, Rachel Leigh Cook is a hottie and a good actress, Dylan McDermott is a good actor and I happen to find Ashton Kutcher pretty funny. So I happen to like the cast. I think they should have at least advertised it on TV. The movie Soul Survivors didn't get advertised on TV either and was dumped in 600 theaters and pretty much bombed. It probably would have done decent at the Box Office if it was put into more theaters and advertised on TV.

I think it should make around 1 Million this weekend at the Box Office and if it's on 400 screens it would have an average of $2,500...

Yeah , there is no way that Texas Rangers could have cost $70 million, I believe canoe.ca was off on that one, but I doubt that it will even make $1 million Mike.......on 400 screens I expect it to gross maybe $0.5 million.............

And it's a shame because Dylan McDermott is a very underrated actor......

Take a look at this article, apparently the whole film might as well be screwed to hell. Not only is it supposedly terrible, but they mistreated animals! They'll have Bob Barker down their asses on this one.

Canoe.ca was wrong, as you may read TEXAS RANGERS will open in 17 theaters across Canada on Friday, and that's hardly any at all. You can compare that to opening a movie in about 140 screens in the USA.

Here's the article:

I'm really surprised that my theater is showing this movie. They didn't even get Bones or Soul Survivors, and they were on more screens. A buddy of mine and I are going to the movies next weekend so maybe we'll go see this for the hell of it, maybe it will be good, even though I'm not a big fan of westerns. I'd kind of like to help the movie out, I feel bad for it for some reason. I always like to help the little movies out. But oh well, I think we'll just go see Ocean's Eleven, that looks much better.

Texas Rangers 5/10...

Texas Rangers is a bad Western, with many flaws, acting being the biggest and a too simple plot. Dylan McDermott is terrible!! What TV show is he on? The Practice? never seen it. Anyway the guy has no presence, no charisma. He just looks stifff and flat throughout the whole film. Van Der Beek is bad at the beginning and gets better and Ashton Kutcher looks so out of place as the comic relief...but the worst was Rachel Leigh Cook, who is only in a couple of scenes...she struggles mightily with the texan accent and is just in the wrong movie! It is a wrong movie!! the music is overblown and unbearable...the story is too simple...Texas Rangers out for Mexican Bandits after the Civil War...the movies only saving grace is some cool gun-battles and some good landscapes of the west...but the idea of the WB crowd doing westerns is a bad one...American Outlaws(6/10) another example but a better film than this one. There is good reason, this film saw no press screenings and no advertisement...oh that was the Weinstein's name I saw during the opening credits...maybe the super-producer at Miramax is trying to hide cause he knows this is sheit.

Puck- your review makes the film seem a lot worse than your 5/10 rating.

Watch it. It's a good show. The character probably doesn't allow him to have much charisma, because he's usually a really good actor (anyone who watches The Practice and saw it on Sunday knows that). And usually when you give a 5/10, it's a so-so movie. Your review sounds more like 2/10. But I shouldn't criticize, since I haven't actually seen it. American Outlaws looks better, but not by much.

Yeah, I agree, your review sounds like it was worse than a 5/10. You made it sound like it was HORRIBLE, more like a 2/10.

From boxofficeguru,

In limited release, Miramax opened the long-delayed western Texas Rangers and grossed a pitiful $319,516. Playing in 402 theaters, the Dylan McDermott-James Van Der Beek film averaged an embarrassing $795 per venue.

Crap indeed.

Out......
