Good ole' New World Pictures...Man they had a hell of a run when it comes to 80's Horror! Cellar Dweller Features Jefffrey Combs in the 1st few minutes of the film, as an Old time (EC Comics type!) comic book creator whose creation comes to life! It is not that bad, actually if you like 80's stuff...you should find it amusing at best!
Having Been involved with comics and having worked the business as an inker, Dweller appealed to me greatly! Except it wasnt all that acuurate, in regards to the tools of the trade...I dont know any comic book artist that uses large sheets of what looked like tissue paper (As opposed to Bristol Board!) Go figure.
Celler Dweller is Directed by John Carl Buechler
(Who doesnt know this guy?)
and Written by Don Mancini (of "Childs Play" fame!)
It also features Yvonne (Oh,Lilly!) De Carlo as Mrs. Briggs, the owner of the art school...where the title creature "Dwells"! :D

Huh! You learn something new every day!
I saw this movie years ago, I honestly don`t remember a thing about it, except that the creature kinda looks like Buelcher`s take on one of the "Gremlins".

I've been wanting to see this one for a while now. I heard that the video box depicts the creature as an amalgam of a vampire, werewolf and some other nocturnal creatures. I think Jeff Combs' character was a comic book artist who drew the monster and couldn't control it after it came to life. Then years later, a young female artist comes to the same institute and begins to continue what Combs had started. At least, that's what I think goes on. I also hear that Yvonne DeCarlo plays a mean headmistress.

BINGO!!! Klownzilla you said it all...:D
You just have to keep in mind, this film might not appeal to everyone here. Although, I would hope so! I like this flick, the creature is very "Buechler". So, if you are familiar with his work then you'll dig it! It has this really cool looking pentagram on it's forhead, and is pretty close to how Zilla described it. What is really eye catching, is the art direction of Celler Dweller!
Let me put it this way...If you liked the look, feel and style of say Creepshow...
then you should get a kick out of it! :D
