I started the death metal thread, and that turned into a thread about all extreme metal, so I decided to stard a thread strictly dedacated to black metal. I love BM. Post some of your favorite BM bands. Hare are mine:

Those are just some of the BM bands I like.

Also, Cradle of Filth are NOT BM, so please try not to mention them.

Dimmu Borgir rock, but i have only heard tracks off of Death Cult Armageddon. is their older stuff cooler?

Of all those listed, I've only ever listened to Dimmu Borgir, and I have to say that they absolutely rock!

I liked what I heard of Mayhem and Burzum..

and a band called Necrophagia, which I dont think classify as black metal (its all very confusing to me) but are still really, really cool.

I think their first 2, "For All Tid", and "Stormblast" are their best. Check them out, if you don't mind the fact that sing in Norweigen for those 2 albums.

i generally listen to blackmetalradio.com, they have a lot of stuff on their and its the best way to hear bands or find ones youve never heard of before

Necrophagia is death metal. Don't worry about being confused, it takes alot of time being immersed in the genres to be able to easily distinguish all of the time. So many bands straddle the line and can actually fall into both black or death.

Ummm ok I'm also confused. What is the difference between Black and Death Metal????

I would have expected to see Cradle of Filth in the list someone but someone made the point that the are NOT......:confused:

I find most of this type of metal to be all the same "Let's kill God, Satan Rules!"
But out of this particular sub-genre I really dig Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, and Venom. Those are all good.

Whatever you may think of their more recent material, Cradle of Filth's first album 'The Principle of Evil Made Flesh' was Black Metal.

Opeth, for the record, have never been Black Metal...

I love black metal. Burzum, Emperor (Anthems and Nightside are two of the best albums of all time, in my opinion), Darkthrone, Venom, At the Gates.

You know what, I like Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir, too. They have a more produced sound, but I like that. I don't care that they're commercialized. COF pre-Midian is completely awesome (especailly Dusk) and Dimmu's old shit rules, too. People don't give these guys enough credit, simply because they act like buffoons to get more sales. I don't care how retarded they are on or offstage, I'll never go see 'em anyway.
