How well do you follow American politics? Being from the US, I really don't follow foreign politics, aside from knowing who is the prime minister of what. How important is this election playing out in your media?

I dont think its reported enough. I try to keep on top of it by reading on the web. I like to read the news, not just from England, but from all over the world. Never know when you might need that source or knowledge in a hurry ;)

Well, the Canadian Gov't, from what I read in the Globe & Mail, wants a Pres that will do well with trade. Relations with the U.S. got pretty shitty. But Paul Martin is trying to repair them in a way, I guess. So, I'd say the election is pretty important to us.

I'm in Europe at the moment, and it's almost difficult to get information regarding the politics in the US on the news here.

I mean, I follow it online because I'm American and scared as hell about the outcome, but I know I don't greatly follow elections in Europe. I had to be politely informed of the Irish political parties...I should read more about international politics.

Ahhh, I'm rambling-

I pay attention to the politics in the US, Britain and Iraq at this point...occasionally elsewhere when I hear the news and do background research.

I'm interested in it. I got a USA Today subscription, I got a Financial Times subscription, French newspapers that I read report stuff, then I also got CNN, NBC, CBS and FoxNews (Evil, Evil! ;)) at home on TV, so I can follow pretty much as much as I want to.

As for the place the election is taking in the French media...Big one. Y'know, the French and the Yanks, long term relationship there. :) The real issue here for everyone is: is Bush gonna get out? And then what? Because everyone here hates Bush -- the media, the politicians, the citizens...It's a consensus. So the election isn't really seen as a battle of issues...it's pretty much seen like a basketball game, and everybody's hoping that the Bush Team is gonna lose by 30. And if they don't, everybody'll be satisfied with a buzzer beater win, too.

I cant recall the last time i've seen any coverage of the US elaction on TV here....

....but we get heaps of those "only in america stories"

EG.
The guy who got 6 nails shot into thier skull and lived
A dump crim who got stuck in a airvent
or a BMW that was left handing on the 4th story of a carpark

To get anything you have to look it up on the net
Maybe when it gets closer to polling day
