Part 1 is almost a 0/10 but I decided to give it a 1/20 instead. Either way, it's one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The actress who plays Jason's mom gives one of the worst and most incompetant performances I have ever seen an actress given.

But my favorite Friday is most definately Friday The 13th Pt. 2. It seems the most scary in the right atmosphere and has that gritty style, hard to match in the series. I enjoy VII almost as much, but VII is not stylish enough...

part 4 as my fav. corey feldman was great as Tommy Jarvis and lets face it without 4 there would be no 6 (well tj story line)

My only gripe with six (and the reason 4 piped it at the post) was that in uk this has a 15 cert and very little gore. i love my red stuff especially in slasher film!!!!

Man, this is a fucking tough one for me. In my humble opinion, this series is a two-parter. The first part is composed of those movies featuring the human, though freakish mongloid Jason (parts one thru four). The second part is composed of those Friday's featuring an undead ass-kicking Vorhees. Therefore, I have two favorites... part three because Jason is one demented, perverted, scary mo-fo and part six because it reinvented the series, breathing new life into a dead franchise (CJ Graham was great as Jason - better than Kane in my opinion, but I don't want to start another one of those arguments/discussions).

FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 4 - THE FINAL CHAPTER

I'm afraid this one has EVERYTHING JASON LIVES has - and more. PART 6 is kind of goofy, so that's what loses points for me. The atmosphere in part four is spot on, and this was the last FRIDAY movie that was actually scary. I like the fact this movie takes itself seriously. The atmosphere is dark and bleak and the death scenes are grisly, gruesome and downright cruel. Genius.

My opinion on this AWFUL series, is they are all the same movie. It is just the most repetitve and unoriginal movie franchise ever. The story is always the same, the bad guys name is Jason, he died in a lake when he was like 9 years old. But then he comes back older and stupider. He kill a bunch of horny teenagers, with all sorts of weapons. He's basically a pshyco zombie. The people and location sometimes change, the plot and outcome doesn't. My advice, look at them as one big pile of shit movie. Do a shot of vodka everytime someone trips while running. You'll get drunk real fast.


...by the way, I voted for Jason Goes To Hell.

There are really two different genres of Friday the 13th. The first 5 films really tried to be scary. The later movies were more action/comedy/horror. You can't compare the two directly.

Parts 2 and 4 were the best of the first set (with a slight edge to 2--you still didn't know quite what was going on in that one, and it added to the intensity of the film, I thought). Parts 1 and 3 were still very good, though 3 lost points due to the attempt to make it 3-D. Part 5 was just kind of weak (and not just because no Jason).

So, in order:

3 (a hair behind 1)
5 (a few steps behind 3)

Of 6 through FvJ, I rank them differently. 6 is the best, and is usually everyone's favorite. It was the first one that I was able to watch without having nightmares (both due to the style of the movie, and the fact that I watched the earlier movies in early grade school). The production values were high, the humor was on-target, and Jason was the hero of this movie.

I liked Jason X. The plot of this movie is "stupid people from far, far away run into our favorite murderer. Fun ensues." It's Jason in space. If you expected something different going in, you were dumb.

Freddy vs Jason was as good as it could have been. Like Jason X, it's one of those "stupid person (Freddy, in this case) runs into our favorite murderer. Fun ensues." Won't people ever learn not to try and tame the monster?

Jason vs Carrie was alright, if a little cheesy. No scare factor at all. The movie just sort of meandered.

Part 8 was... well, Part 8.

Jason Goes to Hell was, by far, the worst of the series. No attempt at continuity. Introduces new characters that nobody's ever seen before (Duke: "Hey Jason, remember me?" Jason: "... No."). It tried to be a comedy, and it didn't work. It predated Scream, and yet failed at the Scream formula.

Part 2 is my favorite, followed closely by Jason X. The only one I really didn't like was part 9, Jason Goes to Hell. Quite watching after half an hour.

It's a split for me. Parts 4 and 7. But for different reason's.

4 was good, because it did something rare for a slasher, it made me care about some of the characters. Crispin Glovers character (The Dead fuck..lol) was fun to watch, and his constant bantering with his friend Ted (Love the computer bit.) was always funny. The usual sterotypes were not really their either. Ya know, Jock's, virgins, nerds, etc. While some of the characters did show some of these qualities, it wasn't over done. They felt like real people, and everyone got some ass (Except poor Ted.) I appreciated the director taking some time to build up the story and really flesh out the characters (Most of them, some were paper thin, obvious meat for Jason's barbecue.) Jason himself was still human, but beginning to show sign's of his later evolution. He was still subtle, but boy was he ever brutal!

Part 7 doesn't have alot going for it in terms of character developement, and the story is a mess at times, but for me, the wacky psychic idea made the flick. Having Jason do battle with a graduate of the school of Carrie, was interesting and fun. The kill scene's also stood out (Thanks to Hodder) as Jason really seemed into his work. Also, Jason has never looked as good as he looked in this film. The man is a gruesome mess, a truely frightening monster.
For me part 7 was a beerfest. A fun way to kill two horrors. I mean ya get tits, gore, crazy psychic powers, explosions, and the man doing his thing. It's a "check your brain at the door" type of go-round. What more could you want?

If I want to watch a Jason flick with a decent story and some good characters, I'll go with 4. If I just want to kick up my feet and drink some booze while watching a Jason movie that delivers without making me think too much, I'll watch 7.

I remember being really young and just about jumping out of my seat when the wheelchair comes falling down that long flight of stairs in the rain. I still don't know why it bothered me so much, but yeah, it scared the Hell out of me for some reason!

For some reason my favorite always was and will always be Part 3. I love everything about it. Chris is one of the best final girls of the series, she's smart and puts up one Hell of a fight against Jason. Chris and Ginny are probably the best. I also love how these kids don't know who Jason Voorhees is. And Tracie Savage is just hot and I loved her character. She was the good hearted slut.

After re-watching them recently, I don't think I could rank them anymore. But my favorites are:

That isn't unbelievable. I think FRIDAY 2 has probably the scariest part of and F13 movie. When Ginny is trying to keep the door shut from JASON and then she slowly inches away and BAM! he breaks through the window behind her. I got to admit that startled me the first time I saw it. After a Friday the 13th weekend marathon, I have to vote Part III. It had awesomely cheesy 3-d effects, the hottest survivor, and pretty much all the victims deserved a horrible death. Part II is the scariest - I saw it when I was about 9 years old and the images of Mama Jason's skull and a dude's throat getting sliced while he's hanging upside-down still scare the crap outta me.

Hans is right, Freeker...it's originally in part two. It's the part when all the kids are getting ready to go into town drinking, only the guy in the wheelchair doesn't go because he's going to lay the dumb girl who sprays perfume on her crotch for some reason.

Don't like the Friday the 13th movies all that much... Jason's got zero personality, and he doesn't come off as the sick/heartless/soulless killing machine that Myers does.

Having said that, some of these can be fun to watch.... I'll go with Freddy Vs. Jason first, followed by Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X.

Tough call but I went with part 6. Thom Matthews was a great Tommy and you have to love some of the humour mixed with the solid gore/kills.

Wouldn't consider F v J part of the series but if I had to rank it, it would slide just above Part 5.

Only one I consider unwatchable is Jason X - oh how I loathe that movie!

On a side note - saw part 3 on Halloween night (in an old theatre) a few years back (in 3D of course) and it was one of my favorite movie going experiences of all time!

gotta go with part 7 as my fav. Jason looks awesome (come on, spine poppin out the back, chain around the neck), Kane Hodder is the man even if many don't feel the same. and the final girl was the best looking IMO, i love me some Tina. Most are pure fun to watch but this one i can pop in at anytime and still be entertained.

It goes in cycles. For years Part III and V were my favorites. As I got older, I started getting into Part 2 more. Around 10 years ago, I decided Part V was my favorite. 2 or 3 years later, I decided Part 2 and III were tied for my favorite. Nowadays, I think Part 2, V and VI hold up the best for me.

Part 3 is my favorite, with 2 & 4 tied for second. I love part 6 but after The Final Chapter the series lost any sense of being dark or scary. Like I said Jason Lives is great but it's like a teen comedy movie with ridiculously unrealistic murders. When did Jason get good at throwing knives? Lol.
