Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

i have to say that i am a huge harry potter fan! i went to see the first movie here in paducah Kentucky the day it came out! i loved it! i would give it a 9/10. it was very good but it did leave quiet a bit out of the book. however it did leave in what was most important to the plot. i think that emma, dan, and rupert have definatly grown as actors, they made the movie even more enjoyable. it's jsut been fun watching them and for me reading about them growing up. i think that the director did a great job! i also think that emma thompson and gary oldman did great jobs with their parts! i will definatly be going back to see it again! also for any of you who didn' t know the 4th movie harry potter: and the goblet of fire is schedueld to come out in november 2005 and the 5th movie Harry Potter: and the Order of the Phoienix is shedueld to come out in june of 2007. anyway i give this movie 2 thumbs up!

I thought it was good but I'm glad GoF will have a new director. Seeing how big the book is GoF should be about 3 hours and 30 minutes long, and if it is...that'd be okay with me.

and what about when we ge t to the 5th one is it going to eb four hours.

To me to say the true Potter adaptation is to only think about getting as many parts from the book in as you can I dont agree wtih. To me the books ahve a mgical light touch to them. The first two films were slovenly adaptations but they werent the Potter I knew. Thankfully the 3rd one corrected that. It really too abd the fourth one has a new director. Hopefully Columbus doest step in again

They've got about a month of filming in the can and have about eight more to go. I don't think we'll know a running time for over a year.

I do wish the movie would have been a little longer, but I can see why the kept it so short (compared to the first two). Most critics seem to like that fact that this one is "loosely adapted," it shows that the filmmakers are getting more talented.

There are a few things that they cut out that actually HURT the movie though.

* It didn't explain who Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs are. That was needed in the movie to explain Sirius's relationship with James. If they would have kept it in it would have seemed less ludicrous when Sirius asks Harry to come live wth him.

* The movie gives no mention of HOW Sirius knew that Wormtail was at Hogwarts. But those of us who have read the book know that he saw the Daily Prophet with the Weasleys in Eygpt. For the common moviegoer that is just a plot hole.

* They also gave no reason for Snape's hatred of Lupin/Sirius. Another thing that probably should bother the common moviegoer.

Speaking as a non book reading viewer.

I must say I was not really confused about Snape in this version except his small part.

He always has seemed to me to have a scowl and a growl for anyone so to me it did not really appear that he hated any one character more than any other in HP3.

The whole confrontation in the haunted house was good but left much to be desired in ways of explination, and they should have spent more time on that and less on other things.

They underused Sirrius and Snape.
