Man, I get so sick of people who complain about others complaining too much! I mean, how tiring does it get being told by other people how it seems like your whole world is imperfect?
I woke up this morning, and I was cold. It usually gets pretty cold when I wake up in the morning, because it gets cooler during the night hours.
I HATE that!
I went to a crappy theater at the mall (because there aren't that many great theaters within a 30 mile radius) to see SHREK 2 with a friend. It was showing every 20 minutes on like, 5 screens or something, and so we got there at 2:20 for the 2:40, 3:10 or 3:30 showing. It turns out the movie was completey sold out on every screen until 5:20!
I HATE that!
So I was like, "Well, MEAN GIRLS starts in a few minutes. Let's see that." She agreed, so I said "2 for the 2:40 MEAN GIRLS."
The chick at the box office said "$18.50". I was like, "What?!"
She said, "Matinee ends at 2:00pm on weekends."
I said, "Nevermind," and my friend and I went our un-merry way, pissed off at the increase in movie ticket prices. That was fuckin' ridiculous! No wonder movies are making so much money on the weekends now! Especially family oriented movies! How many parents go to the theater maybe once every couple months on a weekend with their kids, and only recently have come to find how much a movie is at what time THEY think is a matinee, only to decide to buy the ticket anyway because the kids are moaning and wailing and begging to see the green ogre onscreen!

That was only the second theater I had been to that stopped matinee before 4:30 - usually matinee ends around 5:30pm. I went to ANOTHER theater a few weeks before to see THE PUNISHER, and same thing happened. It was $8.75 for a 2:10 showing! I was like, "fuck that."

Since all the theaters in my area are crappy, I'm not going to spend more than matinee price for a movie that I badly want to see, in a theater that has shitty sound and/or a crappy screen that's so dark I can hardly see what's going on.

I have seen three movies in the last 8 weeks since I've moved here. I usually see at LEAST one movie a week in the theaters. Most of the time it's more like I see two or three. But since it costs so much here to sit in an old, unkept, disrespectful excuse of a theater around here - for FULL PRICE! - I choose not to waste my dough on what cannot be a thoroughly enjoyable experience! Out of all the theaters I've been to that have been remodeled from an old 1900's era opera theater into a MOVIE theater, all of them suck for playing movies. That's what most of the theaters are like around here, too.

This one theater that's real close to me is just that; an old opera house, which is cool in that it's an historical landmark. But when it comes to movies... the BIG theater has what seems like two speakers playing in front of the screen, no subwoofer or surround speakers... and the sound echoes annoyingly thanks to the accoustics. The seats are hard as rock, and the screen is BIG, but the projector must need a new light bulb or something because the screen is so dark.

The other screen is locked away upstairs in a kind of nook-and-cranny kinda way. You walk in, and there's the so-called movie screen. You choose your seat, which every single one is at a canted angle from the screen because the room is so small. Out of probably 100 seats, 15 of them are actually facing the screen straight on. The problem is, those seats are on the far left against the wall in the very front. So you're staring up at the screen like it's positioned on a crane.
I HATE that!

I miss my movies! I miss good sound, cheap matinees and the ability to choose between at least 3 good theaters!

I almost wish I was back in Hawaii (I still do when it comes to the super-hot chicks there), but at the same time I love California. I just hate the theaters in my area. I will have to drive 40 miles North or South of here in order to see the movies that I really badly want to see these days. I was rarely selective on what I wanted to see in theaters throughout my whole life. I would just drive by a decent movieplex and see what was starting soon.
Now, I have to plan ahead and make a day out of it.

But most of all, I wonder why someone would make a post in the RANT, RANT RANT forum claiming that schmoes complain too much. Worst of all, it's an inconsiderate claim that is backed by no reasoning whatsoever. What I mean by that is, it's a flame post.

Our board is for movie DISCUSSION. This forum is for RANTS about the movie industry. There's a chance that people "complain" too much here because...that's exactly what this forum is for... :D
