I recently recorded The Breakfast Club, being one of my favorite movies, on TiVo. The first time i saw it was last summer when I rented it from NetFlix, I thought the language made it more realistic and an all around better movie as a whole. If you've seen the AMC version, it's a laugh riot. Let me share a quote made by Bender imitating his family right after he imitates Brian's:
"Stupid, worthless, no good gul darn freeloadin' son of a wench! Retarded, big-mouth, know it all, snot-nosed jerk! You forgot ugly, lazy, and disrespect-SHUTUP WENCH! Go fix me a Turkey Pot Pie. What about you dad? Damn you. No, dad, what about you? Damn you! NO, DAD, WHAT ABOUT YOU?! DAMN YOU!!"
They shouldn't even show it if they're going to butcher it like that.

It's A REGULAR Cable TV channel that shows commercials. What do you expect? OF Course its gonna get butchered. I just watch to see what they are gonna cut out or hilariously substitue w/ the F words and S Words. Ocassionally certain words will quickly go by if you don't have a sharp ear to catch it.

They edit movies for television? You don't say....
Add this to the long list of reasons why I don't watch television.

Ooooh that has my favorite edit EVER:
Instead of
"Did you give her a hot meat injection?"
He says
"Did you give her some hot sweet affection?"
ahaha

Editing is necessary for TV. Sometimes it's funny. I couldn't stop laughing at "Melon Farmer" in Die Hard With Vengeance.

Actually, that part isn't edited. In the movie he says "Eat my shorts" and when I see it on TV it isn't edited.
I also thought that part was edited. It's just bad dialogue.

I watched the Breakfast Club on AMC when they had the "DVD on TV". It had little trivia insight on every scene. It was pretty cool, because The Breakfast Club is one of my favorite films, and it was cool to learn extra info.
Otherwise, I hate watching edited films. They can burn in hell.

At 3 AM when its time to get settled into bed, I'll take an edited version of The Breakfast Club overtop of another redundant Girls Gone Wild infomercial, or one of those "it slices, it dices" piece of shit infomericals that drag on and on forever.
I'm thankful for AMC. They piss me off sometimes though, like callng Army of Darkness and American Werewolf in Paris classics, but its nice late at night to not have to watch some syndicated cable network show that was cancelled 5 years ago like Thunder in Paradise starring Hulk Hogan.

Ferris: Cameron is so uptight, you can take a lump of coal and stick it up his *FIST* and two weeks later you'd have a diamond.

On amc, it actualy did say "Eat my socks". That is like the stupidest editing in television history.

My friend and i constantly laugh at how completely absurd the editing is on the breakfast club...I mean they edit out "jock with "socks" and god with "lord". Its a pity to see one of your favorite movies that horribly edited....
Seriously, why edit out "eat my shorts", friggin bart simpson said it!
One time on tnt, they had the movie edited out by just taking out the words, rather than use some dimwits voice that sounds nothing like the original character.

Oh so that makes it ok then.
I think Elementary Teachers should be able to swear at the kids if they want, don't you?
"Sit the fuck down you mother fucking kindergartners!"
Oh yeah, that's a real winner!

That's the best way to do it.
The other option is to NOT have the Movie Studios sell the rights to show those movies on TV.
Solves the problem all together. If it's not shown, then no need to edit it.

Who really cares though, it's just some words that *gasp* might offend some moralists prudes who are still living like it's the 50's. It seems that only in the U.S do people still find swearing so absolutly horrible, offensive and evil anymore.
And i never said elementary teachers should be saying that to their students, Hell No!, what i said is kids hear that stuff from each other all the time every single recces.
If parents don't want their kids to watch those movies because they have swearing in it, then they can shut the T.V off if they find them watching it. The power is in their hands, it's their children and they have the remote control. When my parents caught me watching something they thought was inappropriate for me while i was a kid, that's what they did.

Once again, my quest for birthing only people of mature age, 35, comes into context again.
Grow up world! It's just words.

I agree, but if you really want to hear those words, go rent the video/dvd.
I don't think someone should have to be Amish to avoid hearing the "F word" as it's called on Television. You prefer it and are in the minority (most people don't want to hear that on Broadcast Television) then you're going to have to pay for it/subscibe for it.
That means Cable, DVD, and Video.
I have no problem with them editing movies for general broadcast, but I don't believe they should be made "unavailable" by not being obtainable at all.
And although they might be words, they say alot about the person who uses them.
Who am I to judge, but those who swear alot or use it alot in regular speech generally have a very limited vocabulary or are slow minded to where they can't think of anything better to say.
"Fuck" is the ignorant man's way of saying "I can't think of anything better to say, so I'll just say Fuck because it sounds cool"
But who am I to judge? ;)

Grow up world! It's just words.
So's the racial "N" word, but you say it around me or any African Americans, and you'll get a fat lip.
If there's nothing wrong with saying one, then the other should be used on a regular basis as well.
I think that's a bad idea.

Alright i can understand censoring extreme violence and sexual content/nudity on T.V but foul langauge just isn't that big of a deal. I agree that in some movies the "F" word is used way too much (eg. The Big Lebowski) for no reason but when it comes to T.V things are getting worse and worse when it comes to censorship.
"Fuck" and "Shit" have always been censored by now it's to the point where even ass and bitch and even lesser swear words are edited out where it used to be absoluty fine to say them. Sometimes in music videos they even bleaped out words like gun or kill and stuff like that. Censoring of langauge on T.V today is getting rediculous esspecially for movies and music videos. Anything that might possibly offend someone in anyway is bleaped out or censored in some way or another. I remember seeing movies on T.V ten years ago that are even more censored today.
