I've heard this question at least a million times. What are the best DVD's for the Dead Trilogy? Well, I thought I'd list them here. If you have anything to add, please do so.

1. Night Of The Living Dead

Get the Millennium Edition. Has an excellent picture quality and superior sound to the other releases. Also, it's fully uncut ORIGINAL version, not the added anniversary stuff. And it has excellent extras.

2. Dawn Of The Dead

Well, if you're not in rush to get this, wait for fall and get the four-disc set. But if you want it now, I suggest the Anchor Bay single disc edition which is pretty fine from what I've heard.

Added: If you live in Europe you might try to get the 2-disc set with the so called Director's Cut and Argento's cut. This set also has the great documentary "Document of the Dead". Unfortunately the Argento cut is in full frame.

3. Day Of The Dead

Get the Anchor Bay 2-disc set. Unbelievable picture quality and sound. Massive extras. There really isn't a substitute.

Added: Unless you're fine with only the movie and again live in Europe, you might consider the single disc with just the movie with no extras.

So, any additions you might want to add?

Edit: Pictures added

"OH...MY...GOD. Thy name...is Anchor Bay."

-Me after unwrapping the four-disc "Dawn" set I'd just bought. :)

Those are all the exact editions I currently own-- although I plan on picking up the 4 disc DOTD collector's edition eventually also.

Another reason to only buy Night of the Living Dead Millenium Edition DVD is that it is the only one that George Romero officially endorses and makes any monies on. Therefore if you truly want to support the man and his work only buy the Millenium Edition!

If you are a Dawn fanatic like me I also recommend this one for nostalgic value. The US Theatrical Cut (which is actually the director's cut but we won't get into that now) is my favorite version of the movie itself. It's better then the proclaimed Director's Cut because it's longer with extended scenes that explain things better. However the music is worse in this cut. Alot of the Goblin stuff is cut out and replaced by cheesy stuff. But if you must own every Dawn DVD like me find this one as well. Sure it's part of the Ultimate Edition, but there's something about those colors that makes me want to own it!! It's usually quite inexpensive on eBay or Amazon.

Yeah those would be the best choices. I currently own the single disc theatrical of Dawn and the 2disc edition of Day.
