I completely forgot about doing a poll for last week's movies. Just never crossed my mind. Oh well, getting back to THE TERMINAL, I think it'll do relevitely well. I don't think it'll have blockbuster numbers in its opening weekend like some of the movies this summer, but, it will do reletively well. I read from, I believe Box Office Mojo that it was playing in about 2700+ theaters.

I'm going to say about the $30-40 million range. Around there.

$20-30 million

Spielberg + Hanks = Cash.

It won't have a big opening, but it will have legs to cross $100 million (about $115 million). $24 million.

$27 Million

I voted 30-40

Could go either way, I'm thinking perhaps 35-45 million, myself, now. The other two movies opening this week, well, eh... don't look like they'll make much of a dent. Actually, Dodgeball previews are playing almost 24/7 on MTV. Whenever I turn the channel on there's a preview for it. That could also open huge.

I dunno, other sites, when they predict always underestimate every film opening.

I said 20-30...it looks like a solid film though.

I figure around $25 and it'll have legs to carry it through to over $100

I'm excited to see it, but most of my "average moviegoer" friends haven't even heard of it.

If they play up the romantic angle, it could grab a lot of the female audience that don't want to see a movie about men getting hit in the face with big red balls.

i haven't seen many tv spots for this movie so i voted 20-30 mil, but it should do better due to word of mouth

I'm thinking under 20 Million with decent legs. The film looks weird, but in a stupid way, not in an "oh that movie could be cool" way.

It's been a while since a Hanks Romance movie has been out, in that case 40-50mil

I'll predict an opening box-office gross of $20-30 million for The Terminal. I wonder if the film will be number 1?

If you asked me a few weeks ago I would have said no way. No way would The Terminal be able to beat Harry Potter. But after last week's surprising box office drop I'm not so sure. Now I think this actually has a chance of being #1. Either this or Dodgeball.

As for the answer: I'm going to guess in the $30 - $40 mil. range.

Well, looks like the audience interest wasn't there. Looks to be headed for the $19-$21 million range, based on Friday's number.

Ouch boxofficemojo.com says $18M, and it got it's arse kicked by dodgeball ($30M). It'll struggle to get to $100M now.

It'll struggle to reach $75 million, much less $100 million. Summer is brutal now. Only one movie had less than a 45% drop from the previous weekend.

Yeah the number of "summer blockbusters" should be cut down, there are too many of them, though a big budget movie is going to have to bomb big style before anything changes- that should be around july 23th, as my avatar notes. ;)

I thought that with Hanks, Spielberg and being a summer movie that appeals more towards adults (since I can't recall any others that are out there at the moment) that it would do well.

Don't you think we're jumping to conclusions too fast? $18 million opening isn't poor, and it only cost $60 million to make.

I don't think anyone was saying it's a failure. But it did perform well below expectations. Predictions for it were all in the $25-$30 million range, and it's opening is definitely a disappointment. But like you said, it wasn't nearly as expensive as most other summer blockbusters.

It has performed below expectations, though I don't think anybody expected it to be a blockbuster. Well, not in the sense of Troy or Spidey.

I think it will have Minority Report-like legs, drop a bit under 40% next weekend, and end up somewhere around $70 million or more.

That sounds about right. Hey, I'm a fan. I hope it has great legs and makes over $70 million. I'm not trying to diss it at all.

I didn't say you were dissing it at all.

But I'm looking forward to seeing it myself.

And the actual: $19,053,199.
