I can't beleive how great these movies are! I'm just getting into this wonderful franchise and would like to hear input from everyone on secrets or rumours from the movies. Such as the prequel "Within the Woods". Has anyone heard of this? I think my cousin may be b.s.ing me.

Within The Woods is real but from what I hear its not to good. The audio commentary on the evil dead dvd bruce cambell talks about it and says its like a 45 minate version of evil dead and the only copies around are horrible vhs bootlegs. I would say listen to the audio commentary on all 3 movies they all have some great info and their funny as hell.

"Within The Woods" was just a student-made short film, made to raise money FOR "The Evil Dead".

In my opinion, The Evil Dead Trilogy is the best trilogy around for crazy, whacked out pieces of entertainment.
The first two films are nothing more but whacked out trips, just imagine what they would be like if you were watching it stoned?!! The third may not be as gory as the other two but its still funny as hell and keeps with the atmosphere and energy of the other films.
All Evil Dead DVD's have hilarious commentaries, the first may not have the team of Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi but they both have individual commentaries and both are just as hiliarious as each other (especially Bruce Campbells).
Each commentary is filled with insightful information on the films which is quite.....ermmm....insightful. Worth checking out.

What are the best versions of DVDs to get for the 3 films. There are many available forms for the movies and I would like to know which ones are highly recommended.

Evil Dead is in my top 10 best movies ever, well all 3 to be exact. i love the camera tricks Sam created throughout the whole movie. i love AOD, but the campy feel and the camera fun was sort of sucked out when the big production companies came along.
as far as Within the Woods, i love it too. if anyone would like a vhs copy pm me or email me. :D

A great site dedicated to all things Evil Dead. There's also a link to the Evil Dead Musical. Yes, it's not a mistype, an Evil Dead Musical. Has anyone seen this?

Someone should really release Within the woods remastered on dvd because with all the evil dead fans there are it would sell quite a few copies.

I have it on VCD, and it is pretty decent, plus I customized my book of the dead edition, to accomidate the VCD.
I also have a theory as to why "Within the Woods" was pulled at the last minute by Anchor Bay...They claim it was a legal rights issue, so maybe it is due to the fact that in the film 2 of the characters are playing the Milton Bradley board game "Monopoloy"!!! Just a theory mind you...Plus that close-up of a Gouldens spicey brown mustard jar could have something to do with it too!

I had the "Bootleg Edition" or "Bruce Campbell vs. The Army of Darkness Special Edition" and I sold it on accident. But one thing I didn't think was cool about this edition was that the theatrical ending, which I thought was equally as good as the director's wasn't there.

The Evil Dead Trilogy is awesome! One of my all time favorites. The commentaries are very entertaining. Definately pick up the Army of Darkness Boomstick Edition. Two versions of the film, theatrical and director's cut. Both equally good.
