SPOILERS

I saw it on Monday night. It is OK. My biggest complaint is the length. At 120 minutes, it is way, way too long. Should have and could have been at least 15-20 minutes shorter. There's also an annoying amount of slapstick. Someone is either falling down or running into something every 10 seconds. At least that's how it feels. It gets tiresome after about a half-hour, but it never stops. On the plus side, it's mildly amusing at times and there are a number of great cameos, which I'm not going to give away. It's harmless fluff that will be most enjoyed by small kids.

Yet another dismal looking June release. I don't want to sound as if I'm shooting down every movie, but this looks terrible. Movies like Spider-Man 2, The Village, and Collateral can't come soon enough. After a strong start with Troy and The Day After Tomorrow summer 2004 is going downhill in a hurry.

I enjoyed this much more than I did The Day After Tomorrow. But it still is only mediocre at best. It reportedly cost $110 million, but it's not onscreen. Some of the effects are laughable, especially the flying stuff.

Disney sure likes throwing their money in the furnace. In less than a month and a half this spring they had three $100+ million films that were either outright bombs or will barely break even in the long run. This looks to join that group.

Disney didn't finance this one. Walden Media independently produced it. Supposedly it's the most expensive indie ever made. Paramount was supposed to release it, but they backed out. Disney stepped in after it was already completed. Not sure how much they actually have invested in this. That said, none of that really matters if it fails. It will be perceived as another flop for Disney.

Well, the Star Wars prequels were technically indies, right? Georgie-Boy financed those himself, and they cost like $5 million more than this does.

I wasn't stating it as fact. I know you like to be right about everything. An article in today's L.A. Times claims it's the most expensive indie ever made. I'm sure they've been wrong before. But the Star Wars prequels were made with a distributor in place, correct? This wasn't.

Oh please, you could have done a better insult than that. Are there people out there that actually LIKE to be wrong?

^^^ What he said

On-topic, Jackie Chan is getting way too old for this shit. And the part in the trailer with Schwarzenegger was painful (and sure won't help his "groper" image).

I didn't mean it as an insult. It's hard to get across your tone over the Internet. I value his opinion a lot and spend a lot of time discussing box office and what not with him. I was just being a smartass and meant it in a lighthearted fashion. Sorry for any confusion.

now I can see why this wouldn't be for everyone - but I saw it with a friend and her nephew and had a really good time.

It is definitely more of a family movie - it doesn't have all the hip insider jokes of Shrek or anything - but I still enjoy fight scenes and good slapstick. And they do have the cameos for the older people in the audience to spend all movie trying to place all the faces - which I did somewhat successfully.

I didnt even know it was out yet...

...not that im going to go see it anytime soon.

Interestingly enough, my two friends who normaly rip movies like this apart, both saw it and said that they had a blast. Even Ah-nold makes a cameo appearance.

Ya this is basically a Jacki Chan vehicle, he is actually the main character and the star of the flick.\

There are too many plot holes to even start to count, but it is not really a serious movie.

More along the lines of a Garfield.

It is just basically one for the kiddies.

The only part I actually really liked was the Wright Brothers bit.

Other than that it is a totally forgettable movie.

Out..................................

There were more parts than just the Wright brothers that I liked, but I agree it was more targeted at families.

Enjoyable enough - not nearly the bomb that some people who haven't seen it are claiming. Its b.o. was misleading

Saw it Sunday night and it's not as bad as I expected. Kinda felt like Shanghai Noon meets Wild Wild West.

I should note, I enjoyed Wild Wild West and for the life of me can't explain why.

But there's a difference between enjoying a movie and thinking the movie is good - which I don't think of WWW.

But, Around feels the exact same. All this weird, craziness stuff going on yet somehow you're entertained.

And I also really dug the Wright Bros bit. I've always dug Shanghai Noon and thought Nights was terrible - it was good to get the ole feeling of Owen Wilson and his attitude around Jackie.
