a have to admit, my favotite type of movie (even higher than horror) has got to be war. It is so real, i love movies that tell a stroy involving wars (like Indiana Jones 1 + 3), or about war. My ultimate favorite is movies on World War II. I am very much a World War II buff.

my top three favorites are

Saving Private Ryan
Dirty Dozen
Empire of the Sun

poping U571 over Saving Private Ryans a wierd (but respectable) choice. U571 was great, same with Enemy at the Gates, which is still in 8th on my top ten. i dont think any war movie can (and maybe ever will) top Saving Private Ryan, still my most watched movie ever. Pearl Harbor was very disapointing, Changing the color of the jap planes just to save money on cgi is a big no no.

Das Boot is the best in my opinion. U571 is a big pile of wrip off shifty crap, Americans stealing a sub and the code..... I mean come off it the british did that. The us had nothing to do with that!

Saving Private Ryan was ruined by the cliche-ridden last 45 minutes. 10 Americans take out 1000 germans with tanks - right!
Check out a little known movie 'Attack' with Jack Palance and Eddie Albert giving terrific performances.
A personal fave of mine is 'Guns of Navarone', closely followed by 'The Americazation of Emily' with James Garner in his best performance and Julie Andrews as the tart and lovely Emily.
