I say in part 1 when Freddy rolls Tina all over the ceiling

The scariest moment for me is when Tina is in that bloody bodybag in Nancy's dream in the first NOES and is later seen being dragged by an "invisible force" (mainly Freddy), leaving behind a trail a black ooze/blood.
That freaked me out the first time I saw it.

A Nightmare On Elm Street Pt.1 has a lot of uncanny imagery and a nightmarish (obviously) atmosphere, which still tags on the film today and that’s the reason why I consider it one of the greats.
In particular, the menacing scene where Tina first comes in contact with Freddy, when the metal bin lid rolls across the alley, his shadow appears, his arms stretch…
Tina in a body bag was another shocker, very disturbing…“Nannnnnccyyy…”
Too bad the ¾ of the film isn’t as up to scratch cos it gets a wee bit corny. Still, the best Nightmare entry and one of the best of the bests.

The scariest moment in A Nightmare on Elm Street and pretty much any other series is when Tina sees Freddy with his big extended arms

The Boiler room scene was pretty scary for me and the first time Tina sees Freddy in the alley with his extended arms.

The scariest part in the Elm Strret series is Freddy's opening monolaugue (sp?) for Freddy Vs Jason. *shudders* Robert Englund is much scarier out of the makeup and the photo licking does not help. Freddy is much scarier as a filthy child molester than a burned up dream demon.

I'd probably say when Nancy comes back after trying to bring Freddy into the real world and she sees him nowhere when all of the sudden surprise!

Actually I think it's the freaky as hell animals at the end of part 2. Freddy has his own moments but freaky animals do something to me. I think some were cats with baby faces ??

Dogs actually, but you were close.
When I was little, the scariest part in the series was when he reveals his brain and tells his story to Jesse in Pt. 2. I know find that not scary. It is now when Nancy is watching Glen and Tina comes out and all the bugs/snakes crawl out of her mouth and Freddy jumps out.
The coolest/creepiest scene is the Tina/Freddy chase.

Ok, I don't remember which ANOES it was but it was the when where the kids were like the sausage topping on the Pizza and Freddy would pick them off. That freaked me out! I still can't eat sausage Pizza.

That would be part 4.
"Mmm, Rick you little meatball"
That scene used to freak me out as well when I was younger as did the asthma scene.

I thought the part in 'NOES 2' where Jesse and Lisa are cleaning up his room and they find Nancy's diary, and they start reading it and talking about how Freddy comes to her etc. Some reason that moment was creepy. Also when Jesse goes out of his house and looks into the basement and see's Freddy down there putting stuff into the furnance.

When you first see Tina in the body bag scared the shit out of me. I couldn't sleep that night when I first saw it....

It's impossible for a movie to scare me. I can't really recall any creepy moments from the Nightmare movies that did anything to me. Perhaps when I was a kid the Tina in a body bag was a bit creepy, but other than that nah.
BTW - New Nightmare's my favorite. :)

Agreed, although it was her inside the bag pawing at it that freaked me out first time around.

Yeah that was pretty creepy, but I also agree with the Tina bodybag thing. That was some freaky shit.

Definitely the Tina in a bodybag scene, that still creeps me out. And a couple of scenes in Dream Warriors: when Patricia Arquette is getting swallowed whole by Freddy and when the guy is pulled around like a puppet by his veins (eww!).

I dont think he was a sopossed to come off as a child molester, just a child murderer. But the photo licking didnt help out his imagery.
Freddy VS Jason is the best movie from both franchises to me. Robert's at the top of his game, and even though Kane isint playing jason, the other guy was pretty good.

In New Nightmare, when Freddy jumps out of the closet, that jumped me the first time I saw it, cool little scene too.

I still get goosebumps when Nancy runs into the 'hall counselor' in the original and Freddy gives her the claws and says, "Nancy...no running in the hallway." followed by that haunting laugh.

Hahaha, that's the honest-to-god truth!:D School was scary enough let alone with ole Fred involved in it.
Another vote for the opening dialog from FvJ...oh my god I was so terrified!

Another moment is in FvJ, when Kelly Rowan's character was in the waiting room, reading the magazine, and she turns a page and Fred says "Got your nose!" and tears her nose off...brrrrrr, that was freaky!

When Fred is walking down the alley with his arms outstretched and they extend across the whole alley. Forget about it! My grandma had a alley beside her house when i was a kid. After i saw that scene, I REFUSED to take out the trash at night. Still kinda bugs me out now.

I think MOST people would agree that the scariest scenes all came from the first movie. Movies don't scare me (not trying to sound like a tough guy or anything) but if I had to pick the scariest scene from the series I would also pick FREDDY'S second stalk sequence with Tina. It set a precedent that unfortunately the series never met again. FREDDY'S first victim was also arguably his most brutal. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Not really a jump scare but in part 2 when jesse goes to the kitchen in the middle of the night and looks out the window and sees freddy looking at him and quickly moves. He goes outside and looks through the basement window and sees freddy pulling his gloves out of the boiler. Not a jump scare, just a cool, intense scene.

I gotta agree with you,and not just because I love south-park!The nightmare scenes in part 2 IMO were the creepiest, especially the one where he looks thru the window to see Freddy lurking the streets, that haunted me for days.I would also have to say when Freddy jumps out from behind the tree in part 1 and cuts his fingaz off.

I seem to be the lone-ranger on this one,but I don't view the extended arms scene that disturbing and/or that creepy either.

After my original two posts in this Thread, I've found some scenes to add to the list that have always stuck with me:
A Nightmare On Elm Street: A.) The nightmare that Tina has before Freddy kills her, with the pebbles hitting on her window and she walks out onto the street. Now that I think about it, Freddy's long-arse arms are kinda creepy-sorry about that, Frank! ;)
B.) Later on in the movie when Nancy sees Tina in the alley(?) inside of a body-bag, her face is pale and a centipede/millipede slides out from her lips, and at her feet are sluggish looking snakey-serpents. This is probably the most disturbing scene on my list.
A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: When you see Freddy walking the streets, as I posted earlier. That scared me like a lot. (Also, two of the parts in this series that most people dislike disturb me the most, aside from part 1, with this and Nightmare 5.)
A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: I can't really say that any scenes in this one frightenned me, although I love it to death and it is my all-time favorite film. I cry every time that the movie ends if that counts. :p (Not even joking!)
A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: A.) The setting is absolutely creepy, with the castle, the chapel, it was a great change of scenery for the series.
B.) This scene is probably the second most disturbing on the list right after Tina's specter-scene in Nightmare 1. When Freddy has Gretta, (in attempt to intimidate the comic-book guy.), she is now a porcelaine doll that she kept in her room, and her cheeks are stuffed with food, her stomach is cut open. Freddy entwines her innards (from her open stomach) around his knived-fingers and eats them, and then pushes her to the ground and she shatters. Which is just absolutely chilling b/c of Number 1: The porcelaine doll make-up, and when Gretta shatters. 2: Watching Freddy cannibalize Gretta. The two of those things put together is just one hellish image. To top it off, Freddy gets a kewl one-liner as well: "Does she taste good, or am I craaaaazzy!!??" :D
C.) The scene in which Yvonne puts her hand on Amanda Krueger's shoulder and Amanda's skeletal skull turns around with a loud sound makes me jump every time that I watch it.
A Nightmare On Elm Street 6: Sorry, no scares to be found here my friends.
New Nightmare: When Freddy kills the baby-sitter. She was such a loveable character that did absolutely no harm to anybody, and to watch her die at all-let alone such a horrible prolongued death that she suffered was just torture for me to watch. Not only this, but the kid is forced to watch this. It was just so bloody, undeserved, and just plain heartless that makes this version of the original Tina-murder from Part 1 so terrible.
Freddy Vs Jason: Sorry, once again no scares.
Well all, hope you enjoyed my list. I hope even more that we can get some great discussion circulating around here again, maybe even get a third or fourth page on the Thread would be great!

Like already mentioned many times in this thread, the whole alley chase scene in the original with Tina. Long arms = creepy.
Just Freddy himself was scary in the original, really wish they kept him like that for the entire series.

The scariest thing I saw in any Nightmare film was definitely in the first. The scene when he cuts off his fingers. It wasn't just what he had done though that scared me. It was the look in his eyes. A look of pure satisfaction and enjoyment. To this day I have that scene burned into my mind.

Oh yea, the finger-slicing was chilling, with Krueger just smiling as he lobs them off, and green pusy/bloody fluids squirt out. In the first, Krueger acted like a complete maniac!
