View Full Version : Where have all the homeless gone?

I was walking around downtown yesterday and I noticed something...
There is no more smell of a mixture of urine and booze in the air...
I no longer trip over people why lie on the sidewalk...
I no longer have to lie about the fact that I don't have any change...
I didn't think that I would miss them but dammit, where have all my homeless people gone? They no longer haunt the old familiar hot spots. No more homeless at Lake Eola, under the I-4 underpass, at the railroad stations, where did they go? I know that our government like to sweep them under our society's rugs. BBut they have to be somewhere. Did they exterminate them? Did they finally get jobs? What do the do with they homeless?

Two answers:
The've been harvested and made into mail boxes.
or
They're being trained pull ric-shaws around the city.
I'm hoping for the latter. I mean, they just walk around all day, why not strap something to 'em?

You should visit Tampa.

Here's where a good portion of them have gone. And I'm damned proud of it.
This is where I work...

Damn Greb, I didn't realize that's what you did. I'm in mental health, and we deal with the VA lots of time. It's really bad here in Tampa, because this is the only VA around.
Our plans for housing and the like are very poor in Tampa (that's what I do - housing for mental ill) and your choice is to live with family (most don't have this option), seek out a shelter (which are often worse than the streets for various reasons I can go into), or live on the streets.
Most here in Tampa opt to live on the streets. Hopefully they can get treatment and move on, but most of them don't have identity.
That is one of my plans before leaving this town -- find a homeless person who I can help get a social security card, ID, etc.
Best of luck to me.....
Fuckin' homeland security!

The Homeless can be seen all over the city of San Francisco. It's not pretty but I wish there was more done to combat this.

Well, Bubba. We haven't reached Florida...yet. But if you come in contact with veterans willing to relocate, we have facilities in Houston, Wash. DC, Phoenix and Prescott AZ, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Riverside CA and Hawaii. We are always looking for good real estate to buy and convert to our usage. It's a great program, and we have all the experts necessary to re-obtain DL's, SS cards, etc. We also have Job Training departments, computer courses, job developers, etc. Keep us in mind. All they would need is a bus ticket, and ninety days sober.

I concur...
...I think they migrate south for the winter, as well...

My sister told me that they put all the Orlando homeless in jail. That's so sad. But at the same time at least they have shelter and food. And sex...
