Actually he has said in the past that he had a eating disorder. So maybe that has something to do with it.

I've heard him say that, too. In the same interview, he said that it developed as he was researching a role, but got way out of control and he went through treatment to cure it. Anorexia in middle-aged men is RARE, but then, Billy Bob is one helluva unique guy.

Anything is possible in Hollyweird. But I know he did/does have an eating disorder. If you've seen him in that 80s TV show "Hearts Afire," he was pretty chubby, but in a healthy way.
