One thing that's always bugged me in movies is when they have a camera mounted on the hood of a car so you are looking through the windshield at the actors....
The windshield is ALWAYS spotless. No water spots, no wiper trails, no bug splats or bird poops. It doesn't even matter if the car is OLD either, the windshield is always spotless.
I can see wanting to be able to see the actors, but it loses a little bit of realism for me when they do that. I purposely look for it in movies now.

hmmm good observation
I have never paid any attention to that sort of thing but I think I will have to keep an eye out for that next time I watch some movies.

Man, and people say my rants are reaching.
I've never noticed this. Mainly because I dont care. But also because, I keep my own car windows spotless. I went out to my car yesterday morning, and a bird had shit all over my window, so I busted out the windex and wiped that sucker clean. I cant stand driving down the road and looking through a spot, just drives me nuts. Filmmakers must be this way too.

I've shot through windows before, and usually prefer cleaning the window before hand. Spots and smudges really makes the shot look bad - the dirt gets excentuated for some reason - something to do with glare, I think. You might as well smear some bird shit on your lense if you don't clean the windows.
What bothers me is that you don't see the insides of more houses with feces smeared on the wall. Movies are so fake.

Hey, movies are fantasy. Nobody locks their car doors either. And they all sleep in L shaped blankets.
I have a far bigger problem with any movie in which the goodguy/badguy waits untill the last possible moment to load/chamber his gun. Shouldn't you already have that thing ready long before you enter a dangerous situation?

This thread is going to make me OCD about watching winshields in movies. The spotless winshield is going to annoy me now too

ive never noticed that, but i suppose it would be too good if you couldnt see the actor through a load of bug splats

Having a big spot of bird poo would be a hilarious in a flick. It seems like it would have been done before, but maybe not. Damn it someone get working on this. I want bird shit on a window during one of these shots. (I'm looking in the Farley Bros. direction on this one)

What would be funny is to use the bird shit to obstruct nudity.
If anyone uses that, please give "special thanks" to Harry Baldwin.

Another "car related" thing that bothers me in movies is how in virtually every movie when a character who is driving gets killed, they automatically floor it. The only exception that I can think of is Heat. That still annoys the crap out of me for some reason.
