Hey guys, i was just wondering if ne of u have seen this revenge flick. i was reading arrows review and he gave it a 3 1/2. It was just enough to convince me until i read a bunch more reviews saying the movie sucks. Is it worth seeking out? Let me kno.

In my books this is no revenge flick, it's feminist tripe. It displays men as horrible bastards and women as great, perfect and more intelligent humans. I refuse to see it..
But i'm not stopping anyone else, so go ahead. Just thought i'd tell ya what i think of it.

Its perdy good. Not bad at all really. The rape scene/her alone in the bush stuff lasts for like 27 minutes or something. Then all the revenge stuff kicks in.
Get the millenium edition DVD... Joe Bob Brigg's commentary just brings everything up a notch. :)

I have to disagree with you there, the film shows a small minority of men to be horrible bastards, if women come to the conclusion that all men behave in this manner then I would have to question their intellect. I Spit is certainly not a feminist movie by any stretch of the imagination. Her method of revenge hardly displays women as perfect intelligent human beings.

It's not that mate, it's just i feel you disagreed with me to give me some stick. You didn't just have your own opinion, you took apart mine. Don't be sensitive, shut up is hardly something to get offended by.
The reason i don't like this feminist flick is because i hate feminists. I don't know America's situation with them, but British t.v is very "Men are stupid, women are clever" If it was the other way around women would be screaming, so why can't i stand up for the men? This is a subject in which i hold some very strong opinions on, but if you like it, good for you. I won't judge someone on what horror film they may or may not like, not like some others..

Not really my problem if you interpret my posts incorrectly, I gave you my opinion which wasn't designed to give you 'some stick'. And I hardly took your opinion apart, I disagreed with it nothing else. And I'm not at all offended by your remarks, I've read a lot worse!.
For the record I don't rate I Spit very highly at all actualy, it certainly isn't a great movie;)

I liked this movie and I own a widescreen vhs copy but I do want to hear Joe Bob's commentary but I do not want to spend 25 bucks for a dvd in order to hear it and there is no place to rent it here damn it! The men in this movie are fucking slobs and they do something fucking stupid and instead of the chick keeping quiet about it and suffering in silence her whole life she decides to even the score on those particular fuck heads in society. I do not think it is a feminist flick. Is it feminist that a woman stands up for herself? Give me a damn break, would you rather a chick in that situation submit and stay broken after a violation to her being? There are enough women in this world who get abused and live with it and say not a fucking thing about it and I have no fucking respect for them if they choose to live that way.

That's exactly what American TV is like. Sitcoms especially. I've been getting sick of it for years. I know the Simpsons and Family Guy are very popular over there, if you've seen either of them they're exaggerations of the normal sitcom husband/wife - usually a fat/ugly/boorish/stupid husband and a beautiful/insightful/caring wife. PC bullshit. The funny thing is that really isn't what feminism is supposed to be about, at least not what it was about originally - it was originally supposed to be striving for equality, not superiority.

MadMonkey12, I was in exactly the same predicament before picking this movie up a few years back. I was told how violent and disturbing the movie was… In the end I paid 9 pound for the DVD and it was turd! Maybe I’m just a little messed up, but the only thing I found slightly shocking about this movie, was the amount of pubic hair the lady had! My copy now recedes in my ex-girlfriends place, which is probably for the best.

I'm not sure about the whole jagged/text thing, but I've seen schmoes routinely disagree over and over again on different threads, and they're not necessarily 'attacking' one or the other, it's just a coincidence because they don't tend to disagree. It's almost expected that me and space disagree on movies (see Drive, Thesis, etc.), but none of us are 'after' each other. Far from it.
Anyways, on that family guy note, does anyone remember how they made Lois a little more . . . unstable, in the later episodes? I thought that was annoying.
So check this out--I would find a fat, sloppy girl drooling everywhere disgusting (in cartoons). I would - maybe - find a fat, sloppy guy drooling everywhere funny. The oddity here is that I think what happens in Simpsons and whatnot is actually the OPPOSITE of feminism, because (get this) men are disgusted by disgusting women. Men find disgusting men funny. And there you go.

My reaction to the movie was the same as Arrow's reaction to Cannibal Holocost which is basically like This is what everyone is talking about????I guess I had high expectations before watching the film that I was totally letdown. But if you wanna see it go ahead. You'll either love it or hate it.

this is a classic of the 70's drive-in period. it's in the same vein as texas chainsaw masacre, the hills have eyes and last house on the left. if you like those films you'll enjoy this film.

but anyways, back to I Spit On Your Grave.....this movie is actualy on my "to watch" list.....and i dont think that the Family Guy is femenistic ......i think that it plays on steryotypes, and i toatly disagree with steryotypes UNLESS they are used in a comical way, such as in the Family Guy

So you UK geezers (JAGGED HALO, TALKING TEXT etc).
Where exactly are y'all from?
On the I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE subject, I don't care enough for the film to talk about the message it's putting across. I merely say something like "It's shite without the gore" and "I want to see the UNCUT version". But everyone did actually make some interesting dicussions. It DOES make me wonder what the directors intentions were!

2. Yes, the rapists are portrayed as terrible. And the film in no way tries to leave the audience hating men, only these men. I dont see how anyone could get that out of this film.
3. The movie wasn't set up to make you want men to die, but the rapists who raped her.
You can only be so sensitive to some movies. I don't see these things in this film. The reason good men werent included is simply because this was a low budget, and mainly plotless film. They didnt have side characters because theyr kept it simple - rape, then revenge, and that's it.

Oh c'mon, it's blatant feminism. Like that only happens to women?, men get raped too you know? women beat men too you know? Day of the woman is a feminist title.

With respect you obviously are sensitive to certain movies, Day Of The Woman being of them, it clearly has made an impact with you that being you feel aggrieved at the way in which men were portrayed in this particular set of circumstances. I don't think it is a feminist flick at all but it certainly provokes debate and opinion, this is exactly what the makers would have wanted.

Carrie 2: The rage was Femi-nazi crap. I Spit on Your grave is a revenge film just like Sudden Impact was. The only real difference was the method of execution; one used a .38 while the other had to use whatever was at hand.
The only difference between I Spit on Your Grave and most revenge films of that time is that it is useualy the boyfriend / husband that goes after the guys that raped his girlfriend / wife such as in the Death Wish films.

My personal opinion is that this flick is just a spin on revenge flicks. In most 70s and 80s revenge movies, a bloke has his wife/girlfriend raped and murdered, then he goes to get revenge (eg. Death Wish). I Spit on your Grave is just a reversing of this concept.

Is I Spit on Your Grave any good? I'll first ask and answer some other questions.
Is it a typical horror movie? No.
Is it scary? No.
Is it feminist? Yes, I think so.
Is it lopsided and flat? Yes.
Is the dialog lame? Yeah.
Are the characters believeable? Not really.
Is it campy and rediculous? Uh huh.
Is it funny? At times.
Is it hard to watch? Often yeah.
Is it a morality play? Yes.
Are there boobs? Oh yeah.
Is it misunderstood? Yeah, I think so.
Finally is it any good?
My answer is yes.

07-10-2004, 08:16 AM
Acts of murder aren't feminist in the least, if anything the character in I Spit displays revenge, nothing else. She didn't have the right to murder her agressors and after all that's what feminism is all about womens rights and equality, nobody has the right to murder anybody no matter how severe the circumstances. If this were a real life case her actions would be considerd pre-meditated murder.
