With Michael Moore's buzzworthy Fahrenheit 9/11 documentary finally hitting over 900 screens this weekend, talk is now shifting to the inevitable DVD release. Currently, the film is still without a proper home video distributor, although Lions Gate, which is sharing theatrical distribution with IFC Films, is rumored to be the logical choice. By Moore's mandate, however, the DVD must be released in September. "We want to get it out before the (presidential) election," said Michael Moore during a recent press stop for the film. "We hope the film and DVD will have a significant role in removing Bush from office." Moore's production company, Dog Eat Dog Films, has already produced many of the bonus features. The DVD is said to include additional footage and updates not in the current theatrical edit, a commentary track, man-in-the-street interviews conducted in 30 countries and more to be announced.

Only about 2 months from now, F 9/11'll be out? That's shorter than high profile bombs. But if he wants it out, given the #1 weekend, I guess he'll get what he wants

"There is probably no greater imperative facing the nation than the defeat of George W Bush in the 2004 election. All roads to ruin lead through him and his administration. Four more years? I can't take four more minutes"

Michael Moore, Dude, where's my country?

Scarface, the point of the damn movie is to help get rid of dubya. It has to be out before the election.

I love the fact that this movie is gonna be avliable to a wide spred before the election.

I didn't go see this film over the weekend, to know that Mr. Bush is not the right man for this country.

The funny thing to me is, 8 out 10 people that have voiced there opnion on Bush say he needs to be GONE! yet the polls are still very close. I thought this was just a California and New York thing, but it appears it isn't. What am I missing? Can people be this blind.

Kudos to M. Moore, even if he does rub me the wrong way. This is a documentry that will go down in infamy. What ever to make my family and country more honest and safe is alright by me.

That proves how much of a liar he is. I watched an interview with him on CBS and it went like this

Reporter: Did you make this as a way to get Bush out of office or was this something more personal to you?

Mike: I wouldn't say that I made it to help him out of office. I made it as something personal to me. When we made this I didn't know that it would come out around election time.

As moviemuffin said, "which one Mike?"

Also.

"I made this movie to get people to vote, I dont care who, just for everyone to vote."

Yet, he made this movie to make people not vote for bush?

This is really good news for me because I had my experience ruined by a pair of immature supposed "non-conformists" who hate Bush....yet don't truly know why.

im buying this DVD for sure. an excellent achivement.

And to answer your question someguy isnt it possible that Moore takes the politics of his counrty personally. So he made this doc because the subject was dear to him , the subject being the current US administation and how amazingly decieving it is. If he can get ppl to act against it then all the better for him: it proves he made a powerful documentary.

And moore loves America, he hates the goverment. Why cant people get that through their head?

Well, considering the fact that our nation was basically founded on critisizing the government, and that if it wasn't for our Founding Fathers fighting against their government, I don't know how you could get much more patriotic than that....

Yeah, the radically anti-bush/right people got on my nerves, and I'm pretty anti-Bush myself. There was this woman sitting next to me who commented on everything said for the entire film, almost always completely inanely. Like the one representative from the Taliban says something like "I feel sorry for your husband" (because of a woman who is bitching at him about burkhas), and this women goes "Oh fuck you!".

I would say being patriotic would be wanting the best for your country and all those who live in it... not blindly following a leader simply because they're the leader. Another country did that back in the 30's and 40's, you may recall that whole thing over in Europe with the Nazi party... apparently it caused quite a debacle commonly referred to as World War II. :D

I know, an extreme example, and I am being pretty sarcastic and don't mean to be a jackass... but blindly following has caused some pretty major problems in the past and as they say, those who don't learn their history and take hede are doomed to repeat it. Just something to think about.

I didn't know that real Americans rigged elections, lied about their military service, put their fellow citizens at risk by ignoring security warnings, held terrorist suspects for up to 2 years without access to legal representation or their families (and don't get me wrong, if they *are* terrorists then I want to see them dancing on the end of a hangmans rope, but surely there's this little thing about being innocent until proven guilty, which is a little difficult when you're denied a trial), allow the families (and, oh yeah, business partners past, present and future of Daddy Dubya) of known terrorists to leave the country without being questioned about mass murder, or carried on with photo-calls while knowing that their country was under attack by terrorists.

Land of the free? Yeah right, I'm surprised you guys in America aren't gagging on the amount of shit Dubya and his good ol' boys have been force-feeding you through the media.

Don't get me wrong, I love you guys dearly, but there's a serious cancer in your system at the moment, and the jerk in charge has got to go. :)

(BTW, great movie, and looking forward to the DVD :D )

I'm not saying that you have to say things about your country greatly in order to be patriotic. I'm not saying that at all. Yes, Moore hates the government and not the country but i'm watching his movies and he makes america look like a shithole at times. Would you want to live in Flint, Michigan after watching his movies? I sure wouldn't.

Flint is a shithole. It's very depressing, it looks as if it is... Decaying. Detroit used to be the same way, but it has gotten a lot better in the past 10 years. Well, really, past 25 years, but I only saw about 10 years of that.

I think Moore just feels there is no need to show the more positive sides of his country, except to contrast the negative.
