.........that one trailer had more cuts than all the cuts in Moulin Rouge combined.
That made me dizzy as hell. I mean, Moulin ROuge never made me dizzy, but that trailer made me feel like throwing up. and it was only taking up less than a tenth of the monitor.
That said, the actual content looks promising...I remember seeing Phantom of the Opera in Toronto several years back (I remember because I got to miss school for a week to go to Toronto while my dad was there for business heheh so my mom took me to see it) and I really loved the musical.
The set design and everything in the trailer looked great and even though there could end up being numerous problems with it, I can't help being overall excited about this film...it's Phantom of the Opera for christssake (that said, I guess the trailer did make me excited for it despite giving me a mild migraine...cause before I wasn't that interested in seeing a movie version of it and now I am).
I'm absolutely worried that Schumacher's gonna cut the actual movie that frenetically but I'm hoping it was just for the trailer LOL. Moulin Rouge was great, but I don't think it would work again for another movie.
But yeah, I'm excited for the film. Schumacher has done some decent stuff up along with some horrific stuff but i think he can pull it off.

I've seen the play twice and loved it. I'm stoked for the movie, it should be good since the original cast helped in casting for the film.

Here's hoping that the movie will contain less cuts per second, since I like Emmy Rossum and love the set design.

Schumacher?
I thought it was Ridley Scott who was filming this one.
*edit*
I looked it up and I guess it is schumacher. I swore I saw ridely scotts name during the preview before spiderman 2. I guess the dr. pepper had gotten to my brain.

MOULIN ROUGE-ish? I'm in line already.
This trailer played before FAHRENHEIT 9/11, and the guy sitting next to me told his girlfriend, "Joel Schumacher's a shit director." I think it's safe to say he has this one down niiiice.

Be interesting to see how the trailer will play on the big screen with all the cuts, but this is one movie i will be seeing. I've seen the play and loved it, but as I was younger when I saw it I do remember being a bit freaked out, the chandelier dropping got me, but this looks promising. Emmy Rossum is gorgeous so that's a plus too.

Let me just say that was a terrible trailer. I want to hear singing in a trailer for a musical not see some really bad, seemingly random jumpy editing. I will def. see the film but I wish they did a better trailer for it. Maybe this is a teaser.

I enjoyed the trailer in a weird "that was different" type of way.
Never seen the show, but I am familiar with the music and such....so I'll have to see it.

I think he only cut it so damn quick, so that it would flow with the Phantom music. I don't think he'd be foolish enough to cut the actual movie like that.

I think this would've been much better if Joel wouldn't have pasted his name on the trailer. People still have a bad taste in their mouth from BATMAN AND ROBIN, and I think he should just let the film speak for itself, which I think this has a chance to do. He shouldn't have made it so obvious that he was involved. Pride, it's a mother fucker, I guess.

looks good to me and I think with Joel directing it has to be good.

I also remember reading that somewhere...
PS: Crappy trailer, but I still want to see it.
Is it a musical?
If so, fuck that.

Well...yeah.
It's based on Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, but the stage version is pretty damn incredible.
I remember that for years I wanted to see a film version, as the way that it was set up was pretty amazing (i.e. starts years after the actual story).
I saw the stage version a loooong time ago, but it blew me away. Very different from everything else that's around.
Trust me, this isn't some people randomly-breaking-into-song and jumping around production. With a movie-sized budget, this has to be good.
I'm looking foward to it. Could be Best Picture material if Schumacher pulls it off right.
No, trust me: Fuck that.
I haven't seen a musical I liked since A Hard Day's Night.

Whoa. That trailer had more cuts than Natural Born Killers, Fight Club and Requiem for a Dream combined!
Well, maybe not that many. But it sure was a lot.
Thanks to Falling Down, Tigerland and Phone Booth, I can almost forgive Joel Schumacher for ruining the Batman franchise. If he gets Phantom of the Opera right, I may forgive him a little more.
