View Full Version : Dawn or Day: Which would make a better tv series?

With The Horror Channel coming into the works, this gives life to that ageless rumor that there was to be some sort of living dead tv series.
If that were to happen, and obviously 'Night' wouldn't be a good choice, which would you rather prefer? The fun times at the Monroeville Mall, or inside the Missile Silo arguing every episode?
I'd take Dawn, and basically re-work it to where all of the main characters live through the Raiders on-slaught, and dramatize Fran having her baby. Occassionally survivors would come drumming along and maybe last a few episodes.
What I'd prefer moreso, would be a Twilight Zone/Outer Limits version, where every episode is an entirely different story, and has takes on the first contact, impending armageddon, and post apocalyptic episodes with the last remaining survivors on Earth. That way each series could be represented in its own unique way, episode by episode.

Just the thought of this makes me cream myself, even if it never comes to fruition.
I like the idea of of having each episode more or less unrelated and more like an anthology.

I would say neither because zombies are great but they lose their luster if you see them way to much. Movies with zombies are good, a TV series would quickly become repetitive and mundane.

Yeah I agree a series would become repetitive.

Well, how many years did M*A*S*H* and Hogan's heroes run? Quite a few, and many series like that still air on TV land to this day.
I think mixing it up ala Twilight Zone style would be groovy and definately not old and tiresome. And you'd definately be getting various directors pinching in on their very own perspectives and takes on how they'd like to do a few episodes. It would be awesome to see directors like John Carpenter, Wes Craven, and newbies like Eli Roth and Zach Snyder with their takes on it. You'd have to imagine they'd do it, just for the sake of.

Eli Roth? Zack Znyder? If those were ever involved I'd definately not be interested. Every show eventually becomes redundant. The Simpsons is one of my favorite shows and every episode runs in the same basic flow of events. I love the dead trilogy but also on tv they'd have to be edited down so we wouldn't be able to get our dose of extreme gore.

Very , very true psycho dude. I would actually watch it if it were more of a mini-series, albeit a graphic, pitch-black noir mini-series with heaps of dread and brilliant dialogue. I think the creators behind HBO's Carnivale should actually get behind this one.
It is possible it could work, but it would have to have just the right amount of depravity, ambience, acting talent, and masterful writing. A dark Joss Whedon / Millenium kind of thing.

I think 'Day' would be a good bet. Tensions, different attitudes. Not nessecarily the zombies, but the people are what would keep the series going.

Dawn.
Even though Day would have awesome characters, tension between them, and etc...I'd just rather what a TV series based on Dawn than Day.

If there was ever a chance of a zombie TV series they should adapt The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman. It's pure Romero in comic book form and the way it concentrates on character development (way more successfully than the movies) over action would make it the perfect source material for a TV series.

Dawn of the Dead is a masterpiece, while day of the dead is a stinking pile of shit. ...so I'd have to o with Dawn.
Dawn wins it for me. I think it would make a great series.

A TV zombie series would suck! It would become repeteive and boring very quickly. And there would be no fucking GORE! What would be the point? Just to milk a franchise name to the point of mediocrity? Say no to a living dead TV series and say yes to Land of the Dead.

I would liek it for a bit but eventually they'll run out of ideas which all the new horror is a bunch of crazy ideas that never work if they would make a dead tv shows it would just dry and would not make any sense

DAY OF THE DEAD
I think you could do more with it. Dawn's location would get boring.

Hmmm... although I prefer DAY to Dawn I actually think either premise would make for an equally good television series. It may be relatively hard to keep it interesting for a long period of time but I would be willing to give it a chance. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

The Walking Dead comics would make a good TV series. Just focus more on the drama and characters and less on the zombies. I think a zombie TV series would be cool, if done right that is.

no movies should be made into tv shows especially like that dreadful looking terminator show.
