Is this right? Peter Jackson has cast Jack Black in the LEAD role for King Kong... just reported over at dark horizons. Black has said this won't a comedy role "althought there are some funny aspects to [the] character". Black joins Naomi Watts and Andy Serkis (Kong and a "smaller character").
Crazy or what?

Yeah, I heard about this a while back. I'm sure Jack will do a good job. Who knows? Maybe he can do a serious role.

I think black will be able to handle the role. I like that jackson has taken on the guy that played golem to do some of the motions for king kong.

Actually, Black is NOT the lead. Adrien Brody is. Black is in more of a supporting role. Brody is the lead actor.

As long as he doesn't actually act like Jack Black and using some of those so called 'acting' skills, then I won't really be bothered.

Watts is the lead, Brody is 2nd billing and Black is the third.
I recall Black has gained praise for his serious stage work, so I think he can pull off a dramatic role. Also, he was GREAT in High Fidelity.

The character he plays is an obnoxious, fast talking, jerk.
He can pull it off w/out having to do the same spastic character he's played in every one of his movies.
