Pop princess Britney Spears wears the trousers in her relationship with dancer Kevin Federline -- which is why she proposed to him.

The singer says her past romances with Justin Timberlake and barman Reg Jones were "puppy love," but she realized Federline was the "real thing" on the flight back from her the Irish leg European Onyx Hotel tour only two weeks ago so she asked him to marry her during an intense talk about their relationship -- although he said "no" to begin with.

The 22-year-old confesses, "It was really beautiful and romantic and special between us. My other loves were like puppy love. They were like practice for the real thing. We'd always talked about how some people don't have to get married when they're in love.

"Then all of a sudden I said, 'What if you want to get married?' And I kind of went from there to asking him if he would marry me. I asked him. He said 'no' because he thought it wasn't the right way to do it."

Federline adds, "The way she said it was kind of beating around the bush. Still, I was taken by surprise. I thought the guy was supposed to ask the girl. I wasn't really thinking about asking her right away, but I did without reservation. I'd known for a while that she's the one."

The 22-year-old argues that getting married was the last thing she wanted -- because of "the big stink" the press made about her drunken Las Vegas wedding in January -- but argues that although she "definitely" wants a large family with Federline, she is not ready for children yet.

Spears says, "You know what? This is my life and I don't care what people think. I'm going to get married. I'm in love with him. I love little ones, but I'm not pregnant.

"I see myself with four or five. We're starting with a dog. I just got a Maltese named Lacy."

The star has not yet met her future step-daughter Kori, 2, and will have to help raise "Moesha" actress Shar Jackson's second child -- with Federline -- who is expected next month.

Spears explains, "I plan to meet his daughter. I think the situation is good."

Spears proposed to Federline, which I don't considering to be a big deal. Maybe he wasn't even thinking of asking her for awhile, but she did it first and he accepted. No big deal really

Well she seems to have ALOT, of bad days. I haven't seen one single picture of her in public where she doesn't look all bloated, with cigarette in her mouth, and looking like pure white trash.
