Only declining 35% in its second week, the green money making machine that is SHREK 2 continued to bring in the bucks, this week a further $8,502,965, taking it to a very nice $25,340,125 (US $261,687,729) after 2 weeks, securing it as ther highest grossing film of 2004 so far. Also still going strong is that other sequel of sorts, THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN which gathered an additional $2,397,477 in its third week of release taking the Harry Potter gang to $23,964,954 (US $247,486,324). The nasty antics of Lindsay Lohan in MEAN GIRLS pocketed a cool $1,817,261 this past weekend, but after some Advance Screenings, the cruel crowd pleaser has $1,984,996 (US $20,499,073) to call its own. Brad Pitt and Jake Gyllenhaal are still hanging on against the wizards and ogres of the Box Office. TROY spends it 7th week of release at #6 with a healthy $22,466,717 (US $232,014,015) whilst THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW has managed $18,512,032 (US $191,173,943) after 5 weeks in play. Hardly a disaster. In between lay Julia Stiles with the fluffy romance THE PRINCE & ME which rounded up $647,932 (US $6,691,200). Doco double TOUCHING THE VOID and SUPER SIZE ME lay at the bottom end of the Top 10 with a respective $357,138 (US $3,688,167) and $1,959,043 (US $20,231,057). Failing to repeat the Top 5 debut success SUPER TROOPERS earned back in 2002, the Broken Lizard boys settled for #16 with their follow up CLUB DREAD. The horror/comedy pulled $31,886 (US $329,287) out of the audience, a far cry less than the $708,110 ...TROOPERS managed.

THIS WEEK (July 1st): Spidey suits up again; and the Olsen Twins spend 60 seconds in the Big Apple.

Great Work FilmBuff

Shrek 2 is killing everything! which is great to see. Its still my favorite movie of the year.

I thought Harry Potter 3 was a step down from The Chamber of Secrets Garry Oldman did make it watchable though. $23million and growing.

Mean Girls was done well to break into the top 5 with $1.8million with the competition its up agaisnt

SpiderMan 2 is sure.....MIGHT knock Shrek 2 Off the top spot, but not by much. Spidey 1 Made an impressive $30million in 02

Opening Weekend SpiderMan 2 $14million
Opening Weekend New York Minute - $1.5million
