I don't expect special treatment but what REALLY pisses me off is when
(for example)
Browsing for DVD's at a store, rental or library perhaps. Don't ya HATE when someone parks themselves right in front of you or you wanna see something and the person in front of you is taking their sweet time?
Usally if they sense someone behind them or see me coming towards them its a rarity other people will make sure they are not blocking my way as I pass or wanna stop and take a look. I hate resorting to say EXCUSE ME or "AHEM" But people who just stand there like a bump on a log I sometimes wanna kick you.

Assert yourself, Border!
I never have this problem, because when I notice people approaching, I either stay dead fixed on the movies, and move in closer, but over to the side,so they can share that area, or move wayyy far back in the isle so that it is reaaallllyy obvious I'm accomadating them.
Then if someone isn't moving so I can see the shit, I just do the best I can, and they usually end up moving over - mostly with a "Sorry." People really protect their personal space, and most will give you more space, if you take up theirs. Just don't be a dick about it -- Remember, you're just trying to see some movies, not get into a fight or fuck with people.
Hell, most people are obvlivious anyway. They're just in awe by all the colorful boxes and unusual word combinations. The best thing to do is make up the difference yourself, and accomidate number one - you.

I find that every once in a while, but generally people where I am say "Excuse me" when they walk in front of your field of view, or if they are browsing and notice someone behind them looking around them, they usually say "Excuse me" and try to slide out of the way as well.
I think it depends on how the person was raised and if they were taught manners in their home and in their society/environment.
Unfortunately manners are becomming more and more the extreme and rudeness is becomming more and more the norm.
We've gone from saying "Excuse me" when reaching past someone to get something on the shelf in front of them to "Get the fuck out of my way!" or the nicer version "Could you Please, get the fuck out of my way" and pushing past them.
It's what comes with decadence and a selfish society instead of a giving one.

What bothers me more is when employees follow me around to make sure I won't steal anything just because I'm sixteen. I know that in many stores they're required to, but it still pisses me off.

A smack to the face/knee to the groin combo should solve all your problems.

If you want to be a jerk, and really fuck with the employees.....
Hehehee.....
Carry some cellophane around in your pocket, then when they aren't looking, reach in your pocket and start fiddling with the plastic. But make sure you don't have a movie in your hand when you do it, or they can hold you saying you were trying to take the wrapper off.
The sound of plastic crinkling really makes them edgy.
Remember, if they hold you on shoplifting, with out you attempting to steal anything, you have a civil case.
;)
Another funny thing is to use the bathroom -- and while in the bathroom -- stuff a bunch of paper towels down your pants to make them look conspicuous. Then splash some water on your face to look like you are sweating when you walk out. Act real nervous.
Yeah.... I didn't have the benefits of after school programs growing up.

100 % agree that is terribly rude if I know someones coming frm behind or from the side and they are looking or want to get through ,if im looking at a case I will either step back or I will ask if im in there way and move.If I need to walk by someone thats looking if the store is busy( my video store is small) I always say excuse me.So rude when people do that even worse when they look at you and they know your there and continue to stand there.I could go on about how rude people can be at a grocery store and one day let someone know what I thought but this is a movie forum so Ill leave that tale for later!

Border, are you a big guy? Cause I never have this problem. Im a big guy, and people get out of my way. Plus, im not very happy in life, so I tend to have a pissed off look on my face a lot of the time. So when people see a 6'4'' 250lb pissed off dude coming towards them, they move. Or they dont cut in front of me. Or do anything like that.

I find ripping a fart in their general direction clears them away.
When I go dvd shopping I don't browse for very long. I know what I'm coming in for so I grab it quick and get the fuck out of there.
When at the library, the place is a desolated. I have all the room I need.

Obviously Border you didn't hear the slow porn music start to kick in softly as it was your cue to make a move.
"Can I... help you with something?"
You had your chance but you blew it.
The world will never get to see what could have been "Up the aisle part XIV: We get evil. BorderEevil."

That whole post reminds me of A caller (http://media.ebaumsworld.com/iroc-speeding.mp3) on this radio show. I'm sure you'll know which caller. A little warning though, it's a half and hour long.

Sometimes, when someone doesn't move even AFTER I say, "Excuse me," I just stand really really really close to him/her. It's creepy and quickly gets me all the space I need. Especially in the horror section. And if that doesn't work, I offer the person some candy, and that ALWAYS works.
However, there WAS one time, and one time only, that I tried to "crowd" someone back, and he asked me if I would like to co-rent something and go back to his place. Ewwwwww.

What makes me see red: when you ask an employee where a certain movie is located (since most stores forget how to fucking alphabetize their movies!)...and the employee loudly points you in the right direction, another customer hears them and runs over to that shelf, takes the last copy of that movie before you can get to it! I swear to God that has happened to me on several occasions! Mostly for new releases. But I don't have the time or the patience to stand there silently and hunt for the fucking DVD, those stores are becoming so claustrophobic! Yes, I suffer from social anxiety disorder! HaHaHa!

I would have tackled down that customer and had that lazy ass employee FIRED! But then again thats just me. j/k :D
Seriously I would have embrassed the hell out of this person. Employees SUPPOSED to go the extra mile for customers. Me think this person needs to re-read Customer Service 101.
