Ok fellow shmoes. So I've reciently read that Region 0 doesn't play on EVERY DVD player. Also if your DVD player has been manufactured in the last three years it should be fine.
Well here is my question.
I have a SONY 5 disc changer that was manufactured probably 4 maybe 5 years ago.
Do you think I'll have a problem?
I have a few region ) DVD's on order right now and would hate for them not to work in my player.
any input would be helpful.

You should be fine plus if you got a PS2 or something like that they play region 2 or whatever region you have DVD's (i think so anyway). But, either way i think your DVD player should work fine...

From what I understand, some companies are making certain DVD players NOT be able to play Region 0 discs. To protect the whole "region" thing as I undestand it. Dont know about brands though

PS2 is strictly Region 0 and the Region of where you live (region 1 for me). That is unless of course you buy 3rd party region free discs.

Certain new dvd players from major companies (Sony, JVC) were appearently asked from certain concerned companies to remove the region 0 option.
However, it is still widely known that even recent players can still play region 0 with a little bit of tweaking.
If you are planning to buy a specific new dvd player, just look it up on the internet before you buy it to make sure the protection can be defeated. You'd be surprised how many players can play region 0 with a little touch of a button.

I'm almost positive my damn player cannot be unlocked. I have searched and seen others asking about it as well, and no answers out there. Ah well, not an expensive one anyway.
I used to use a playstation 2 but they gave me a lot of problems with DVDs. So they do play region 0?
