Dont you just fucking HATE it when a show is reboradcast in reruns, only to have the timing of the commercials reworked????

Angel has been doing this on TNT ( A show whose sense of drama is literally built around the commercials) and also Family Guy has been.

What SUCKS is trhat sometimes after the "normal" place for the commercial (Its so easy o tell!) passes and then they'll literally spill out two lines of dialogue and THEN go to their own commercial! It mist have been like 2 seconds worth of show. Why couldnt they just leave it as it should have been and kept the drama!

Cutting into a scene of dialogue seriously fucks with the drama of the rest of the show!

Does anyone else hate this?!

Bravo is the worst at it. I'll be watching Columbo or a movie and they're interupt it to show two commercials then cut back. That's crap.

Well having been in the industry I can say this.

The station that is airing the show has no control over the commercial placement.

The shows come down to the station via satellite or on tape. The internal commercials are already in place and the black holes are also aready in place. Then the station airing the show only inserts his local commercials in the black hole areas.

90 percent of the commmercials on any given show are sent from the provider of the show.

And yes the show may be reedited by the provider before it is sent to TBS or some other second run network after is has been shown on it's primary network.

Now movies are different.

Movies often come complete with no commercial black holes at all. Especially the cheap ass crappy movies. So it is up to some guy that works for the station to pick a point to get out and put in a commercial.

And you can't simply pick any point. They like to keep the segments to about 10 minutes long. So you can't have a 20 minute segment simply because there is no good spot to cut out.

Yes it sucks but watching movies on TV sucks period.

But if you want to bitch about the timing of a series it is all the fault of the distributor who sends it to the station.
