from imdb.com:
Exhibitors Debate Enforcement of R Rating for 'Fahrenheit'
A theater owner in Oakland, CA has posted a sign on the theater's marquee saying, "We will not enforce the R rating for Fahrenheit 9/11." Allen Michaan, owner of the Grand Lake Theater, who may be the first theater owner to publicly defy the MPAA's rating code, told today's (Wednesday) Los Angeles Daily News: "We felt very strongly that the film did not warrant an R rating and that the audience that is being excluded, the young people 14-16 years old, it's their future that is at the most stake of anyone's." Michaan's decision was announced even as other theater chains were reportedly stepping up plans to enforce the rating. The Daily News quoted a manager at a multiplex in Long Beach, CA as saying that he's instituted "a little more of heightened security." However, he added, "I don't think there's that many younger kids who want to see a documentary. We've actually had more kids trying to sneak into Troy." However, a young caller on the Rush Limbaugh radio show Tuesday described how he and his brother sneaked into a theater showing the movie and began denouncing what they saw on the screen. Limbaugh then asked what the other patrons did? Caller: "Well, they start telling us to shut up and start cursing at us, and then a mean-looking woman ran out and called the cops on us right away." Limbaugh: "For how long were you debating while the movie was playing?" Caller: "I'd say it must have been like five minutes until the cops came. ..." Limbaugh: "I'm sure they were furious. You probably ruined their night." Caller: "They wanted to kill us. They were throwing popcorn at us and everything." Limbaugh: "They wanted to kill you by throwing popcorn at you? I would love to have seen this."

Asshole. Him and that stupid caller.

Where does it say anything about him encouraging anyone to interrupt it?

If you talk during a movie, any movie, it's your fault if people get pissed at you. That caller is a fucking goon.

That is bullshit.
I thought F911 was complete crap too, but I wouldnt dare ruin anyone else's theatre going experience because of it. That is just plain rude and outrageously stupid.
Plus, Rush is a complete pompous bitch. The dude treats woman like shit. He just divorced his third wife....watch out J-Lo!!:D

I kinda question that caller's claim.....
Its stupid that cops were called in? Usally this type of incident would have had these individuals who did not buy a ticket for the movie in the first place just plainly ejected out from the theater for the day.

This is why the American Right is so dangerous. They're never content to argue against something or simpy refuse to patronize it.
They always, always, always take it a step too far and try to coerce other people into not exercizing their rights. They always try to shut down and stop things that don't meet their approval.

Yeah, because liberals never go out and protest or cause trouble:rolleyes:

I dont think you can panic just yet because some right wing idiot made a fool out of himself during a Michael Moore film.

I think you are forgetting the venom of the left when "the Passion" was released. This is about two people in one theatre- when i went to see Spiderman the other night there was a group of really loud kids who made it hard to hear the dialogue at certain points becassue of their commentary. You'
ve got to keep this in perspective. if you know Rush he does NOT encourage his callers to do anything. I've heard him say this many times. He does laugh at stories that people tell about what they do. That is not a crime. Howard Stern does no different. His callers interfere with other TV shows all the time.

I read that news item a few times, but I still can't see where he encouraged others to interrupt the movie. He said he would've liked to see what happened, but didn't go and say "Everyone, follow in their lead"

Read what I wrote again.
This isn't about "venom", it's about trying to prevent something you don't like from being shown and heard. Not denounced, not criticized, not boycotted. Physically disrupting something.
I don't remember anything like this occurring over that film. You got a lot of reasoned, albeit passionate, denunciations of it's and (more importantly) Gibson's questionable views. Totally different situation.

Al Franken and Rush Limbugh are two peas in a pod only on the exact opposite of the political scale. Although Rush is slightly worse IMO.
I'm glad some theaters are letting teens get in to see the movie by defying the ludicris R rating given to it. Here in Canada the film was given a 14A rating meaning those teens in the U.S could see it by themselves up here. Good ol' liberal Canada for ya!

protesting outside on a sidewalk is just fine, but why should they be allowed to ruin a movie for someone else...
I didn't ruin "The Passion Of The Christ" for the pompous christians that went and saw it....

SykkBoy, I wasnt referring to people protesting againist the Passion.
I was referring to liberal groups that cause other trouble. Like remember all of those assholes in Seattle, protesting on trade. They caused huge traffic pile ups and werent sorry for it.

Cardinal rule of movie watching:
You don't fuck with a movie that people PAID to watch.
I don't care if its a Micheal Moore film, or 28 Days Later (bad experience with idiots during that movie) same rule still applies.
Whether you're spouting political beliefs or just just yelling out stupid shit, no one paid to hear it, they paid to watch and hear a movie. Respect that.
If the guy wanted to put a point across, he should have stood outside the theater with pamphlets.

We don't always do that. I don't know of ANYONE who does that. That guy is one guy acting on his own- Rush doens't tell people to do that. I think if someone does that they should be ejected from the movie.

It would be funny if someone broke into his studio while he was on air and gave him a piledriver.

I'm still gonna see this movie. I still like Micheal Moore even if he strenches the truth a bit much and i don't agree with many of his extreme opinions.

I was sitting next to the Democratic Party Leader of teh SF Valley during my showing.
Her and her cronies' excessive cheering and clapping ruined it for me.
Well, that and it was a huge steaming pile of shit.
But those two things together ruined it for me.
Fuck Michael Moore. Fuck him up his stupid, fat ass.
Ditto Rush.

I enjoyed the first half. It was slightly informative, if you've been living in a bubble.
Then he went to great lengths to disparage the rank and file soldier. Made it appear there are a bunch of toothless fucking rednecks getting off on killing the poor Iraqi people.

That's from my friend whose brother is stationed over there, in his defense he's not a redneck, he's from Hialeah....... which really isn't that much better then redneck.
