I really like his different scores, they are very simple, 5 or 6 notes not more than that but always effective.

My favorite scores: Christine, Halloween and The Fog.

Carpenter is a genius when it comes to minimalist melodies, I can't think of a single score of his that I don't like, great stuff!.

the soundtracks Carpenter creates are some of my favourite, hes great at doing it and after i hear one i never forget it

Carpenter is a great composer. Most of the scores he does stay with you for a long time too. Its good when a director has more input into his films... more personal that way.
Still, he doesn't top the greatest in the world tho... Ennio Morricone. :)

Carp is just as good at composing as he is at directing. My fave themes are:

Halloween

Escape From New York

&

Christine

Yeah Carpenter is one of the best composers around. All his are classic.

So true. So true. In a world overwrought with large symphonies and disgustingly over-dramatic musical narratives his mood-building tones spoke volumes about scenes.
