I'm on my 2nd time through all 28 episodes right now. Must have for any Batman fan, though it could use some more commentaries. It's nice to have episodes like Beware the Gray Ghost and Heart of Ice on DVD though.

This was a great purchase for me, as ive been a fan of this series since i first saw it when i was younger!

I also picked up "Mask of the Phantasm", many people say its the best Batman movie ever, but ive never seen it.

Ill post what i think of it after i watch it.:)

Just watched it and i give it an ass-kicking 9/10!

The animation isnt much better then whats in the show but the themes and story are great! 5 reasons why i loved it!-

1. Despite the movies title its The Joker who is the most menacing villian in the movie! Hell yeah!

2. The story is top notch!

3. Its far darker then i expected

4. The ending isnt a forced happy one but is rather bittersweet. The good guy doesnt win.

5. The love story feels real and not forced into the movie.

Its both. Wide is on one side and full is on the other.

On a side note i also got Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker: the uncut edition today, and it is even better then Mask of the Phantasm!

I cant beleive i waited so long to get this, the Joker is more insane then any other movie incarnation of him ive seen! Just wait till u see what happend to spark Batmans final confrontation with him in the past and what Joker does to poor Robin to start the final showdown!

I wont spoil it but u will regret it forever if u dont get this, just make sure its the unedited version. Itll say so on the box.

Yeah, I remember being very suprised by the unedited version of RotJ. I thought there might be an added cuss word or some crap like that, but I was wrong. Watching the unedited version of RotJ was almost like watching a different movie. One of if not the darkest non-Anime piece of animation I've ever seen.

Finally got around to rewatching all the episodes, and I think the 5 best of the 28 episodes are: Heart of Ice, Beware the Gray Ghost, Two Face Part 2, Appointment in Crime Alley, and Dreams in Darkness.

Though "I am the Night" is my personal favorite of the entire series. Hopefully that episode makes Volume 2.

The only thing that gets to me is that some of the episode names are spelled wrong on the box. I know I'm being picky and it really doesn't make any difference, but it's a stupid mistake. And yes, I am a Batman nerd...

Indeed it is!

Its on sale at Sun Coast right now for 14.99 for the un-cut and the normal edition.

The uncut version feels like a whole nother movie due to all the scenes cut out, shortend, or alterd to meet patents approval in the standard edition.

I tried to post a thread about this, but as of yet, no one has replied to it...

Does anyone know when the next volumes are coming out? I can't wait for them! Every six months, one a year? Anyone heard anything? If you heard something, where from?

What is the difference between the original and the director's cut?

Shockwave
07-20-2004, 03:37 PM
In the edited rather then Robin shooting Joker, he get elctrocuted by hitting a switch by accident when he slips backward.

Also, Bonk is killed by gas rather then Joker shooting him, and the scene where they drag his frozen body off is gone.

Robin talks less about how he killed Joker and the torture scene is shorter(they removed the part where he fries Robin with the metal tongs).

Joker Punches Batman in the final fight in the past, when in the unedited he slashes him across the chest and buries the knife in his leg.

Thats all i can think of off the top of my head.
