View Full Version : The Rumor of John Jameson being venom...

Is beyond lame if true (though raimi claims he doesn't want to do venom in any spidey movie he directs)
If they go with that beyond stupid angle, i will not watch another spider-man flick.
Eddie Brock wanted revenge on Spider-man for "ruining his life". He thought he had a lead on who Sin Eater was, but was proven wrong by spider-man. Spidey caught the real sin eater. Eddie was then fired from the daily bugle and his wife left him. (actually i don't remember if the wife left him before or after he got fired.) He and the alien symbiote bonded when eddie was on his last leg of life and about to kill himself.
John Jameson was just left at the altar by a bimbo. Now while that was a crappy thing to happen and he was humiliated, it would be a farfetched reason for him turn evil SOLELY because of that.
Which is the better story?! Honestly people throw me a bone here!
I know it's just rumors but even the slightest possiblity of it being true...grr

Not gonna happen, at least not on Sam Raimi's watch. I read somewhere they're actually planning on doing NINE films, not six. I assume they'll do three trilogies with three different directors and leading actors, at least that what it sounds like will happen from what I've read about the director and actors' intentions of only doing three films. I guess we may see Donnie Darko play Peter Parker afterall. I just hope they get a director as good as Sam Raimi, and a hotter Mary Jane.

Add to the fact that John Jameson turned into the Man-Wolf on more than one occasion, and has absolutely nothing to do with the symbiote saga.
However. Upon viewing Spider-Man 2. I couldn't help but think that it could be possible to manipulate the storyline a bit. Possibly have Jameson bring the symbiote down from a space trip, and then it could merge with Eddie, rather than go through the struggles of Spider-Man dealing with the black costume.

I really hope if they do it at all, it goes to Peter first. The symbiote has to get the powers from Spidey and the spider sense immunity...
But apparently another studio owns the rights to venom

God...all my friends after we went to see Spider-Man 2 couldnt stop arguing about this. Three of them said it was Flash Thompson and the other three said it was John Jameson and all the while I'm saying "No you god damn morons! ITS EDDIE BROCK!"

LOL
Has anyone been reading Venom's title (i think it's in the continuity)
Apparently the Carnage symbiote had a baby...
and there's a female venom!

You know it doesn't hurt to move away from the source material.
Hell, it made Lord of the Rings better....

Except it'd be a crappy story if it was john jameson
John Jameson: He was left at the altar by a dumb twit.
Eddie Brock: He lost his job, his credibility, and his wife.
John Jameson is a hot astronaut. Do you REALLY believe he wouldn't get over her?

?
How do you know? a few changes could make it into a good story...when venom is introduced into the movies, then we should be commented whether or not the story is/will be crap...but as we've only just had spidey 2, it doesn't seem worth getting all het up over something that may not be out for a looong time...thats just me though.

Perhaps, just maybe he truly did love Mary Jane...and that's what sent him over the edge.

Shut up! Theyre not doing Venom
There, did I solve that or did I solve that?!

But you KNOW if they turn John Jameson into Venom it's going to be primarily because of Mary Jane.

Again, I don't see what he possibly could have loved about Mary Jane. But that's not the point.
It's not a good story for him become a villain solely because she left him at the altar.
Besides, how many times have people we "loved" gotten away?
What's the ratio of people who go crazy because of love lost vs. the people who get over it?
And if John was already mentally unstable, he wouldn't be an astronaut... He wouldn't even be a military pilot (wasn't he a military pilot?)
Besides all THAT, I think Sam Raimi has more respect for character origins than that.
The natural webbing was a logistical change.

Yeah, they're not.
But this is just a what if argument.

Yeah, I agree that John Jameson turning out to be the host of the Symbiote, thus becoming Venom, would be a very bad idea.
I've read that Raimi likes sympathetic character's, and I suppose you could give a shred of sympathy for being left at the alter, by a girl whos pretty much dated every guy in the film series thus far. Possibly even Otto inbetween 1 & 2! But IMO, Eddie Brock is far more a sympathetic character than John Jameson could ever hope to be.
For reasons Tweek already mentioned, and I believe it was revealed in the early issues of Spectacular Spider-Man Vol. 2, that Eddie Brock found out that he was also dying of cancer. All this, finally made Brock contemplate suicide. And while he was at the cathedral, asking for forgiveness before he did the deed, the alien symbiote bonded with him. Thus saving his life in the process, and giving him powers beyond his wildest dreams. Together they both had a grudge against Peter Parker, and his alter ego Spider-Man. Thus becoming VENOM!
I dont mind Raimi twisting the orgins, for the overall benefit of the film. But Eddie Brock as Venom is pretty essential.
(shakes fist at the idea of Jameson/Venom)

Question:
Why doesn't Raimi want to do a flick in which Venom would be? The guy's only the coolest Spider-man villain ever, and I personally thought he'd be the kind of villain Raimi would like toying with (you know, darker, more violent).
I do agree though that the symbiote costume should go to Spidey first. Maybe have him get it halfway through the 3rd movie (for instance) and/or use it as a cliffhanger, and then Venom appears and grows in the next installment.

Its possible hes toying with us again. I KNOW i saw a quickie interview somewhere wher he BLATANTLY said the villian is S2 would not be Doc Ock (this was AFTER they began filming the plates for the train sequence, mind you)
So theres always that to consider.

My theory is that Jameson's kid will become the hobgoblin and join The Green Goblin(Harry). Or since he is filthy rich...He will hire some guys to go after her Rhino, Vulture, just throwing names out no one really thinks that these two guys will really be in the film.

Am I the only one who thinks that the guy who played John Jamison is a pansy who could not even come close to pulling off a decent Venom? Besides everybody knows that Eddie Brock is the true Venom.
Raimi isn't going to do him as a villain anyway. He has already stated that numerous times. I recall an interview where he says "Venom is for squares." Take that and the fact that it would take two movies to cover the whole Venom story and there's even less of a chance he will do it.
But I would fucking love to see it!

Wow.
If you like Carnage that's fine with me. Just don't diss me.
And just because I didn't use punctuation!
Oh, I'm sorry, I'm showing lack of paragraph structure.
