MGM have announced plans to release the unrated edition of Straw Dogs for the first time this October. The controversial Dustin Hoffman film will be available to own in shops from the 19th October this year, and should set you back somewhere in the region of $14.95. The unrated cut runs to 118 minutes, giving you an additional minute on the standard theatrical runtime. The film itself will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen along with an English Mono track. English, French and Spanish subtitles will also be included. We've attached our first look at the official region one package artwork below:

Looks like there's no need to run out and get the now OOP criterion dvd.

1. Just did so today.

2. And I'd do it again in a second as well despite hearing about this.

3. Despite Criterion saying it's OOP it's available at Amazon.Com and Ca. I even found my copy at a mall.

4. Not only did the other DVD have the Criterion banner, it's loaded with extras, while I haven't heard of anything to special here.

Anyone know what the extra minute consists of? I've seen the theatrical version, but I didn't like it enough to purchase the DVD.

Probably more blood me thinks. Or more brutal rape. Whatever it is, it isnt more intelligent conversation between Hoffman and his wife.
