VANILLA SKY is getting a lot of "Thumbs Down" from critics. It's rotten at www.rottentomatoes.com (http://www.rottentomatoes.com) and I highly doubt it will be winning any awards at the Oscars, I don't think it will even be nominated for any awards at the Oscars.

I still think it looks good though and I will see it.

It will have a good opening this weekend and next weekend I wouldn't be surprised if it drops at least 50% as soon as word of mouth gets out. I don't think too many people will like it. Since it's a wierd "mind fuck" movie and those usually aren't big Box Office successes. I think this movie will drop fast. It's a love it or hate it kind of movie and I bet a lot of people will hate, especially mainstream moviegoers. I think it might end up with a final gross of only 60-65 Million at the U.S. Box Office.

Eye's Wide Shut also had a big opening weekend but dropped fast.

What does everyone else think?

If anyone has seen the movie what did you think of it?

I originally predicted that Vanilla Sky will open in second place (behind Oceans 11's second lap) and gross $25 million and have an eventual final tally of about $105-$115 million.

However with all the horrible reviews, I think that it will still open strong however will have very bad legs, similar to Eyes Wide Shut and gross an eventual $70 million.

Yeah, I guessed it would open with 22 Million and have a final gross of 110 Million but now I think it will open with around 24 Million and have a final gross of 60-65 Million. It will drop fast I can tell you that.

I want to see it but my theater didn't get it, I have no idea why either. It has 18 screens and got Texas Rangers opening weekend but not Vannila Sky.

There's two other theaters in town and they didn't get it either. I just can't figure it out. But I might eventually get to catch it while it's in theaters, since I'm sure it will leave quickly. Otherwise I'll just have to wait for video.

Anyway, I can't wait to see your opinion on it. I hope it's good, Cameron Crowe is really good, I think I've liked every single one of the movies he's done. Plus Cameron Diaz looks really good in this movie. She's the star in the movie that I'm most looking forward to seeing, Tom Cruise second, and I'm not a huge fan of Penelope Cruz so I really don't care about seeing her in it at all.

But the movie looks awesome. I hope it's good.

Vanilla Sky 9/10...

Vanilla Sky is an amazing movie and I was mesmerized. This film hooked me from the get go and it never let up! Due to the nature of the film, I will try my best not give away much in my little review. But I can say Tom Cruise gives one of his best performances ever...and to be honest I think has turned himself into a pretty decent actor. The supporting cast is great too...having seen Penelope Cruz in other films, I thought her accent would annoy me but she comes off very good in this film. She really showed me something with this role. Cameron Diaz and Jason Lee are also good in their smaller but key roles. At times this film is absolutely brilliant and at other times is muddled and a bit confusing...This film is a wild, inventive departure from Crowe's other more soft-hearted films, but it is great. Vanilla Sky if nothing else is very interesting, it still had me thinking about it some time after I saw it.

I think I might just check this one out on video, Entertainment Weekly gave it a D+, that's not good. I don't know, I might check it out but I'm not as excited about it as I was.
