I remember seeing her in interviews well before the whole reality show thing and she is not that dumb. It is just an act. She is smart and realizes that she probably only has about 3 minutes of her 15 left so she is going to get as much out of it as she can.

Jessica Simpson is batting 1000 in the Short-Bus Majors. That girl is as smart as a sack of hammers. People keep saying, "It's an act, she's really super-smart." Gimme a break. I am SO not buying it.

Last night, I was channel surfing and came across their show on NMtv (No Music television). In this episode, Jessica, her mom and her grandma were all sitting around discussing a local appearance Jessica was supposed to be making.

I only watched for about 5 minutes before I couldn't stomach the stupidity anymore.

Jessica's mom hung up the phone and said, "There's some drama with Lynard Skynard." Jessica said, "Who's that? Is that a guy? What's his problem?"

Somehow they got on the topic of Gary Sinise, which Jessica's mom pronounced, "Sin-EASY," then when Jessica asked who Sinise is, her mom said, "You, know, honey, he was the guy in 'Run, Forrest, Run," with no legs."

There is a reason Nick Lachey always has that exasperated tone in his voice and look of "Oh my fucking god, how goddam stupid can you possibly be?" on his face.

I've seen her in interviews as well, and have only been able to reach one conclusion: Yes, she IS that dumb, but due to the repetitious nature of interview questions, Jessica knows the right thing to say and when to giggle to get her out of the ones she doesn't know how to answer.

This has nothing to do with intellect, imho. It has more to do with the zillions of image consultants on her payroll, undoubtedly the same svengalis who release bullshit statements like, "Jessica Simpson has an IQ of 160."

Awareness of art and culture doesn't reflect IQ. IQ is supposed to be not connected to general knowledge. It just tests ability to think logically.

I know people who have qualified for Mensa... And the thing is that they don't come off as smarter than any other people. In fact some of them come off as more stupid than most people.

It should be also noted that people with exceptionally high IQ's are often socially less capable and find "ordinary" life harder to control and survive.

Does all of this mean that Simpson has and IQ of 160? No... Her mother is not exactly the most reliable source, and one test on 5th grade wouldn't tell the entire truth anyway. It doesn't reflect how intelligent she is NOW.

But I don't think her TV show is a good representation of how intelligent she is. Many highly intelligent people have intentionally made fools out of themselves. They might make it because they make money with it, or they might have simply realized that life is easier if you play dumb.

For Simpson an aura of dumbness might be just a social facade.

I know one girl like that. She is extremely hot, extremely intelligent, a brilliant student, hugely ambitious and has an exceptional level of knowledge (for her age) on art, politics, philosophy, history, etc... And she is just 19. A really remarkable person.

And guess what, she comes off as a TOTAL airhead. A superhot babe with no brains at all. That's how most people see her. And they couldn't be further from the truth.
