Police Academy is Coming Back Source: The Hollywood Reporter Thursday, July 8, 2004

The Hollywood Reporter says that Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow are teaming up to co-finance the eighth sequel in the popular Police Academy franchise. It's been 10 years since Police Academy: Mission to Moscow was released.

Warners-based Jerry Weintraub is on board to produce, says the trade, and series creator Paul Maslansky is executive producing with Village Roadshow's Bruce Berman.

The project is out to writers, with the exact direction of the newest installment yet to be determined. *

God! I hate the damn franchise!

Why can't they stop making PA sequels and leave it alone in peace?

Indeed, I did, and MISSION TO MOSCOW is undoubtedly one of the most painful pieces of shit I've ever seen. Makes AIR BUD look like CITIZEN KANE. :(

Can't be, he only specializes in shitty video game movies. To make a shitty Police Academy movie requires more skill at making bad movies than Boll possesses

That's strange. I thought that Mission to Moscow was the 6th film... Guess not.

STOP The MADNESS!!!!

If they must do another installment plug it as STV or TV Movie....

It will be the laughing stock at the box office if it does theaters...

My friends and I have a running joke that when we talk about Police Academy films, we always refer to any of them as Part Six. Because after awhile, some of the stuff started blending together so much that we all agreed that it would be simpler to just agree to call them all part six. It actually works, and it saves us time from not having to argue over which part is which.

Let see here's the TIMELINE of the Poilce Academy Movies..........

Police Academy (release 3/16/84) $81,200,000

Police Academy:Their First Assignment (release 3/29/85) $55,500,000

Police Academy 3:Back In Training (release 3/21/86) $43,579,163

Police Academy 4:Citizen's On Patrol (release 4/3/87) $28,061,343

Police Academy 5:Assignment:Miami Beach (release 3/18/1988) $19,510,371

Police Academy 6:City Under Siege (release 3/10/1989) $11,567,217

Police Academy:Mission To Moscow (release abroad 6/94 , USA 8/94)
$126,247

Well aparently the 6th Installment "City Under Siege" got overlooked when other schmoes thought that there was on 7 P.A. Movies and lets not forget the TV show which I am not gonna go there. I noticed the the P.A. movies ALWAYS came out in US theaters usually during the month of March. Hmmmmmmmm....... And IMDB gave figures from Sweden. Is The P.A. Movies popular there also? The gross figures from P.A. 1 to P.A. 7 notice the amounts takes a nose dive from each one? Why does Warner allow this?
I hope the P.A. regulars steer clear away from #8....

the downhill fall of the box office numbers are terrible, but then again in this time and day i wouldn't be surprised at anything, like a sequel like this being a great big hit.

"Why can't they stop making PA sequels and leave it alone in peace?"

Especially seeing as the guy who played Tackleberry is now dead.
